Where to stay
Not every area in Newport hits the same vibe. Here's where each verified property actually sits, and what each pocket feels like at night.
Steps from Bowen's and Bannister's Wharves, the harbor, and Thames Street shops, bars, and raw bars. Best for first-time visitors and couples who want to walk to dinner, the boats, and nightlife. Includes the grand landmark Hotel Viking up at Washington Square.
Quiet, tree-lined streets of restored Victorian and Colonial inns just up from downtown around Kay, Pelham, and Bellevue's north end — walkable to the harbor and the mansions both. Best for couples wanting a romantic B&B with a jacuzzi-and-fireplace room and a standout breakfast.
Along Bellevue Avenue, the Cliff Walk, and out to oceanfront Ocean Drive — closest to The Breakers and the surf. Best for a romantic splurge or a mansions-and-coast trip, anchored by the perfect-walk Cliffside Inn and the luxury Castle Hill Inn.
Things to do in Newport
The Newport Mansions — The Breakers, Marble House, The Elms, and Rosecliff line Bellevue Avenue under the Preservation Society of Newport County. The Cliff Walk, a 3.5-mile National Recreation Trail between mansions and the Atlantic, offers dramatic coastal views year-round. Waterfront exploration centers on Thames Street, Bowen's Wharf, and Bannister's Wharf — colonial-era shops, raw bars, and harbor-cruise kiosks. The International Tennis Hall of Fame occupies the historic Newport Casino, while Fort Adams State Park hosts the Newport Folk and Jazz festivals each summer with sweeping harbor views. Coastal drives along Ocean Drive lead to Brenton Point State Park, where kite flyers and sunset seekers gather. History buffs visit Touro Synagogue (1763), the oldest synagogue building in the United States. Family-friendly options include Easton's (First) Beach, the Save The Bay aquarium, and sunset schooner trips from the harbor.
There is more within easy reach: The International Tennis Hall of Fame at the historic Newport Casino; Ocean Drive and Brenton Point State Park — a scenic coastal loop with kite-flying and sunset views. Seasonal highlights include Newport Folk Festival and Newport Jazz Festival at Fort Adams (late July–early August), Newport International Boat Show (September) and summer sailing regattas, Christmas at the Newport Mansions / Sparkling Lights (November–December). Newport rewards visits in every season, from green-season hiking and water days to brilliant autumn foliage and quiet, snow-dusted winters. And because Newport sits within easy reach of Middletown, Jamestown, Block Island, it works well as a base for wider day trips across the region.
Make a night of it
A hot tub stay in Newport isn't just about the soak — it's about what you do before you slip in. These pairings turn an ordinary night into a story you'll repeat.
Spend the morning or afternoon touring The Breakers, Marble House, or The Elms along Bellevue Avenue, then return to your inn for a long soak in a fireplace-warmed, in-room jacuzzi.

Book a sunset schooner cruise or catamaran sailing from Bowen's or Bannister's Wharf, then return to your inn for a hot tub soak to warm up.
Catch live music at Fort Adams State Park (late July–early August), then unwind in your fireplace-and-jacuzzi room afterward.
Drive the scenic Ocean Drive loop to Brenton Point State Park for sunset views and kite flying, then settle into your in-room whirlpool tub back at the inn.

Getting here
Rhode Island T.F. Green International (PVD) is about 45 minutes northwest; Boston Logan (BOS) is roughly 1 hour 45 minutes. There is no passenger rail to Newport — the nearest Amtrak stations are Kingston and Providence — so most visitors drive in over the Newport (Pell) Bridge. Downtown, Thames Street, and the wharves are very walkable; a car helps for the mansions and Ocean Drive, though seasonal RIPTA trolleys and rideshares cover the core attractions. Seasonal ferries link Newport with Providence, Jamestown, and Block Island. Summer parking is tight downtown, so many inns offer free on-site parking — a valuable amenity. Once you have arrived, plan to keep a car for day trips around the region; most attractions are an easy drive, and parking at the hotel is straightforward. There is no need to rush between stops — distances here are short, the roads are scenic, and you can comfortably pair a morning outing with an afternoon one and still be back at the hotel by evening.
When to visit
Hot tub stays read differently in February than they do in July. Here's what to expect across the year — temperatures, signature events, the local vibe, and how rates move.
Tub types, explained
Technically a brand name, but used generically for any jetted tub. In hotel listings, "jacuzzi suite" almost always means a private in-room tub with built-in air or water jets. Heat is usually preset; jets are user-controlled.
Functionally identical to a jacuzzi — water jets circulate heated water for a massage effect. The term is more common at Marriott, Hilton, and Wyndham brands. Most "whirlpool suites" hold two adults comfortably.
Deeper than a standard bathtub, usually 18–22 inches, but with no jets. Common in boutique and luxury hotels — quieter, more spa-like, and better for a long hot soak than the jet-driven hum of a jacuzzi.
In strict use, a standalone heated tub holding 100°F+ water. In hotel marketing, often used interchangeably with jacuzzi or whirlpool. A genuine in-room "hot tub" with full thermostat control is rare outside cabin-style resorts.
Every listing on this page specifies which type you'll find in the room. We list only properties with the tub in your room — not in a shared pool area or the lobby spa.

Common questions
Why trust us
Every hotel on this page has been personally verified to have a private, in-room hot tub or jacuzzi — not a shared pool tub, not a bathroom soaker, not a spa amenity you have to book. We cross-check three sources for every listing: the hotel's own room photos and descriptions, recent guest reviews on TripAdvisor and Google, and direct confirmation from the hotel where unclear. We don't take payment for placement, and we don't generate listings with AI. If a hotel's tub status changes or a property closes, the page updates the next time we re-verify the city (Dothan was last checked May 2026).
