The Wynstone
"3.7-rated inn with Gilded Age-styled rooms, jacuzzi tubs, and fireplaces—but upkeep issues warrant honesty."
About The Hotel
The Wynstone is a 3.7-rated inn with richly styled, Gilded Age-themed rooms featuring in-room jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces—genuinely charming for a romantic getaway. The owner-driven warmth and made-to-order breakfast are real strengths. Location is prime: one block from the waterfront, with Thames Street shops and the wharves close enough to walk. The honest piece: recurring guest reports flag musty/mildew odors and dated upkeep throughout the property. Noise insulation from the busy street is limited. Peak pricing (from $306) sometimes feels steep given those condition notes. If you love the period aesthetic and don’t mind working around upkeep quirks, the jacuzzi-and-fireplace rooms and location make this appealing. Just go in with clear eyes about the historic building’s maintenance challenges.
What Guests Are Saying
“Hospitality excels at The Wynstone, one of the Inns of Newport group. Rick, the owner, greeted us with warmth, humor and an upgrade. Our room was spacious and attractive with period art, a beautiful fireplace, and a lovely bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub — an easy walk to the sites. We always choose his inns when staying in Newport.” — Lea S, 5 stars
“The perfect combination of comfort and charm. We stayed in Belcourt, which had a jacuzzi tub large enough for two along with a separate shower, plus the highest bed I’ve ever slept in. The delicious made-to-order breakfast was a special treat. Special thanks to Rick.” — William I, 5 stars
“Fireplace and two-person tubs in cozy, quaint rooms — not for a family but a nice place for couples. Full made-to-order breakfast is a nice touch. Great location, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Beware the very tight turn into the parking lot.” — kap24, 4 stars

"We had the pleasure of staying at the Admiral Farragut. The room/bed was very comfortable and the whirlpool bath was a nice extra feature. The area was quiet and relaxing while only being 2 blocks from the main strip in Newport. The staff was extremely friendly and breakfast was simply amazing. We will definitely return :)"

Rick was incredibly helpful - he regularly called to see if we needed anything and was very hospitable. The historic inn was lovely, our room was clean, the mini fridge was stocked with drinks, and the bed was so comfortable!! And the location can't be beat."
