Artful Lodger Inn
"4.4-rated art-filled inn with character suites featuring spa tubs and fireplaces—quirky, walkable downtown location."
About The Hotel
The Artful Lodger Inn is a 4.4-rated property full of character, with individually styled, art-themed rooms (like the Havisham suite with its spa tub and gas fireplace). It’s eclectic by design—suites vary in size and decor, and that personality is the draw for couples seeking a design-forward, quirky stay. Location is solid: Spring Street in the downtown core, an easy walk to Thames Street, the harbor, and restaurants. The quiet street positioning adds an advantage—you’re near action without nightlife noise. The innkeeper (Heidi) is warm and personable. Rates are quoted on request, and it’s a smaller property that books ahead in season. This is best for travelers who embrace offbeat design and don’t need uniformity—those looking for a conventional hotel should look elsewhere.
What Guests Are Saying
“This place is exactly what you picture in your mind when you think “Cozy Bed & Breakfast in a New England port town”. Everything about this place was great.” — Stephen P., 5 stars
“Great location, the free hop on/off trolley stop a couple of blocks away. The free off street parking was great. Lots of narrow stairs. Heidi was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was freshly made and delicious. The iInn is centrally located. Everything look clean and welcoming. We stayed in the front 1st floor room. You definitely could hear the traffic. Only negative besides the road noise was the pillows were not great.” — Marie P., 4 stars
“The co-owner /innkeeper, Heidi, was very friendly and accommodating. She greeted us and gave us some good tips on things to do and see. The inn itself is a little tired. Very clean but run down. Garage sale furniture. Bed was comfortable and pillows were fine. It was helpful to have the parking lot. Breakfast was good- be aware of climbing 2 sets of very steep stairs to get to it.” — Betsy H., 4 stars

What guests are saying about Artful Lodger Inn.
"Me and my wife stayed here for 2 nights on our New England road trip. There was plenty of parking at the back of the property. The location is great for local food and sightseeing. It's specially close to the cliff walk if you're feeling energetic. The room and the building itself felt just like somebody's home and Heidi and her friend made the best pancakes ever and we're really welcoming. Thanks for a great stay. I'd 100% recommend."

Nice and quiet, with so much charm, and a delicious accomodating breakfast I can only compare to waking up at someones awesome grandmas house; Bacon, eggs, pancakes, sausage, all of the delicious aromas, with parfaits too. EXCELLENT service throughout our stay. We will be back!"
