Wellington Resort
"4.2-rated Thames Street all-suite resort with pool, jet tubs in select rooms, and spacious layouts."
About The Hotel
The Wellington Resort is a 4.2-rated all-suite property on Lower Thames that leans toward spacious comfort and convenience. Suites come with full layouts and kitchenettes, and select units have jet tubs for an in-room soak. The on-site pool and fitness center add recreational draw, especially for families or groups. Location-wise, Lower Thames is walkable to restaurants and the harbor, with a short drive to the mansions. The honest note: upkeep can be uneven—past guests have flagged scuffs in grout and areas that felt a bit run-down for peak-season pricing (from $495). Confirm your specific suite when booking to lock in the jet tub if that’s part of your plan.
What Guests Are Saying
“Very spacious watefront rooms and helpful staff. Location was perfect for shopping and dining. Indoor pool and gym were a bonus. We will be back!” — Chris V., 5 stars
“Newport is one of my favorite places and for the last three years stayed at the Wellington Resort. You get your moneys worth and the staff are super nice.” — Danielle M., 5 stars
“We were able to check in early because no one else was using the room but checkout time is 10am (most hotels it’s 11am and a free extension to noon or 1 if available) — they charge a noon checkout time for $125, so we checked out at 10. The room had 2 beds, 2 baths, and balcony. Was supposed to have a waterfront view but the view was mostly the pool cover with a small section of the ocean behind it. Recommend making sure you do not have the pool view, which is OK if you bring kids but if you want the true ocean view unblocked be sure to specify. Bring baggies and saran wrap for leftovers, otherwise all needed for cooking was there. We had a partial kitchen no stove but a hotplate, toaster oven, microwave, coffeemaker and fridge. There are full kitchen rooms available as well. Overall a nice stay, parking is included, but we will probably use a B&B next time; we stay at many different hotels and B&Bs when we go to Newport, so many choices! Wellington is very good for large families bringing kids due to the multiple pools, the rooms are large, or for multiple couples or friends.” — Trish L., 3 stars

"We were a group of 16 celebrating our mom's 90th birthday. The staff were fantastic helping us to arrange our trip, and thoughtfully put us all on the same lobby/group of units, which created a truly private space for our group.
