Where to stay
Not every area in St. Augustine hits the same vibe. Here's where each verified property actually sits, and what each pocket feels like at night.
On Avenida Menendez along the Matanzas Bay directly opposite the Bridge of Lions — the highest-rated pair in the St. Augustine set. Westcott House (4.9, 2,592 reviews) at 146 Avenida Menendez is the top-of-set stay with 5.0 location + 5.0 service, near-perfect 4.9 across cleanliness/rooms/sleep quality, free breakfast, couples-massage service, concierge and a confirmed in-room jacuzzi tub per guest review 'our room (108) met all expectations and we enjoyed relaxing in the jacuzzi tub.' Bayfront Marin House (4.8, 2,088 reviews) next door at 142 Avenida Menendez has heated pool (the only downtown B&B in the set with a pool), free breakfast, couples massage, pet-friendly rooms and confirmed 'bathtub with jacuzzi jets plus a walk in shower with two heads' per a honeymoon-guest review — though a candid 2-star family review of the Governor White suite flagged 'good, bad and ugly' issues. Both are direct-bayfront across from Anastasia Island with Bridge of Lions views.
In the walled Colonial Quarter among the Spanish-colonial cobblestone streets — three historic-B&B properties within walking distance of St. George Street and Castillo de San Marcos. 44 Spanish Street Inn (4.8, 906 reviews) at 44 Spanish St has 5.0 location + 4.9 service subratings and the property markets 'private in-room jetted tub' rooms (confirmed by a 1-star guest who booked specifically for one), but multiple candid 1-star flags cite customer-service failures ('door locked with nobody on site at 5:30 Sunday'), 'Stay Away!!' quality complaints comparing it 'well below the quality of even a standard Holiday Inn,' and 'Stay Away Save Your Money' broken-tile and mold-smell reports. Carriage Way Centennial (4.7, 1,254 reviews) at 26 Cordova Street is an adults-only B&B with 5.0 location + 4.8 across every subrating, free breakfast, walking tours, board games and 24-hour check-in; legacy whirlpool-bathtub amenity but no confirming TA review-text. Victorian House B&B (4.7, 1,024 reviews) at 11 Cadiz Street has confirmed jacuzzi rooms — 'Wedgewood and Patricia, which comes with jacuzzi and balcony' per guest review.
On A1A Beach Blvd across the Bridge of Lions on Anastasia Island — the sole oceanfront pick in the St. Augustine hot-tub-search set. La Fiesta Ocean Inn & Suites (4.3, 1,186 reviews) at 810 A1A Beach Blvd has heated pool, direct St. Augustine Beach access, free breakfast delivered to the room, mini-golf, fitness center and children's television networks. 4.6 location subrating is strong for direct-beach access; rooms (4.2) and value (4.2) are softest. Recent candid 4-star flag: 'the room was standard. It could've been deep cleaned, the bathroom window seal had mold and the AC had some mold.' No in-room jacuzzi confirmation in current TA reviews or amenity list — a pool-and-beach property, not an in-room-tub property. Value oceanfront rate ($114-$134) at 10-15 minutes across the Bridge of Lions from downtown.
Things to do in St. Augustine
Castillo de San Marcos National Monument is the 1672 Spanish stone fort at the north end of Avenida Menendez — the oldest masonry fort in the continental US. Walk the ramparts, watch the cannon-firing demonstrations, and take in the Matanzas Bay panorama from the coquina walls. Both Westcott House and Bayfront Marin House sit 5 minutes' walk south along Avenida Menendez.
St. George Street is the pedestrian-only Spanish colonial corridor threading north-south through the Colonial Quarter — restaurants, boutiques, historic reenactments and the Old City Gate at the north end. 44 Spanish Street Inn, Carriage Way Centennial and Victorian House are all within a 5-10 minute walk.
Flagler College's Ponce de Leon Hall on King Street is Henry Flagler's 1888 Gilded-Age Ponce de Leon Hotel turned four-year college — daily guided tours of the Tiffany-glass rotunda and the terra-cotta Spanish Renaissance exterior are among St. Augustine's most memorable interior experiences. The Lightner Museum in the old Alcazar Hotel across King Street holds Otto Lightner's Gilded-Age antiquities collection in what was once the largest indoor swimming pool in the world.
Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park north of downtown marks the 1513 Ponce de Leon landing site — walk the grounds, see the peacocks, and get the archaeological-history version of the founding legend.
Across the Bridge of Lions (10-15 minutes east) on Anastasia Island — St. Augustine Beach with La Fiesta Ocean Inn on A1A Beach Blvd, Anastasia State Park for hard-packed beach and dunes, the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum (climb the 219 steps for the view), and the Alligator Farm Zoological Park for bird rookery boardwalks over live gators.
Beyond St. Augustine — Jacksonville 45 minutes north (downtown River District, JAX airport); Ponte Vedra Beach 30 minutes north (Sawgrass Marriott + TPC Sawgrass Players Championship); Daytona Beach 75 minutes south (Daytona International Speedway); Amelia Island 75 minutes north (Ritz-Carlton + Omni barrier-island resorts). Seasonal highlights include Nights of Lights (mid-November through January — the historic downtown hangs 3M+ white lights across the Colonial Quarter buildings and trees; peak-season sold-out weekends), Rhythm & Ribs Festival (April), Sing Out Loud Festival (September), Menendez Day historic reenactments (September), and First Night St. Augustine (New Year celebration).

Getting here
St. Augustine sits along US-1 and A1A on Florida's northeast coast in St. Johns County, 40 minutes south of Jacksonville and 90 minutes north of Daytona Beach. Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) is about 45 minutes north — the closest major airport. Daytona Beach International (DAB) is about 75 minutes south for airline connections from the southeast. The walled Colonial Quarter downtown is the heart of tourism and is highly walkable between St. George Street, Castillo de San Marcos, Flagler College, the Lightner Museum and the Bridge of Lions. Avenida Menendez runs the Matanzas Bay bayfront — Westcott House (146 Avenida Menendez) and Bayfront Marin House (142 Avenida Menendez) sit next door to each other with direct-bay views. 44 Spanish Street Inn (44 Spanish St), Carriage Way Centennial (26 Cordova Street) and Victorian House B&B (11 Cadiz Street) are all within the walled Colonial Quarter within 5-10 minutes' walk of St. George Street. The Bridge of Lions crosses to Anastasia Island for St. Augustine Beach — La Fiesta Ocean Inn (810 A1A Beach Blvd) is 10-15 minutes across the bridge on the direct beachfront. Historic downtown has paid parking near attractions; most B&Bs include free parking (Westcott House offers free private parking nearby). A car is optional in downtown but helpful for Anastasia Island, Fountain of Youth and Alligator Farm.
When to visit
Hot tub stays read differently in February than they do in July. Here's what to expect across the year — temperatures, signature events, the local vibe, and how rates move.
Tub types, explained
Technically a brand name, but used generically for any jetted tub. In hotel listings, "jacuzzi suite" almost always means a private in-room tub with built-in air or water jets. Heat is usually preset; jets are user-controlled.
Functionally identical to a jacuzzi — water jets circulate heated water for a massage effect. The term is more common at Marriott, Hilton, and Wyndham brands. Most "whirlpool suites" hold two adults comfortably.
Deeper than a standard bathtub, usually 18–22 inches, but with no jets. Common in boutique and luxury hotels — quieter, more spa-like, and better for a long hot soak than the jet-driven hum of a jacuzzi.
In strict use, a standalone heated tub holding 100°F+ water. In hotel marketing, often used interchangeably with jacuzzi or whirlpool. A genuine in-room "hot tub" with full thermostat control is rare outside cabin-style resorts.
Every listing on this page specifies which type you'll find in the room. We list only properties with the tub in your room — not in a shared pool area or the lobby spa.

Why trust us
Every hotel on this page has been personally verified to have a private, in-room hot tub or jacuzzi — not a shared pool tub, not a bathroom soaker, not a spa amenity you have to book. We cross-check three sources for every listing: the hotel's own room photos and descriptions, recent guest reviews on TripAdvisor and Google, and direct confirmation from the hotel where unclear. We don't take payment for placement, and we don't generate listings with AI. If a hotel's tub status changes or a property closes, the page updates the next time we re-verify the city (Dothan was last checked May 2026).
