Best areas in Parkersburg for a hot tub stay

Not every area in Parkersburg hits the same vibe. Here's where each verified property actually sits, and what each pocket feels like at night.

Emerson Avenue East Parkersburg (10057 Emerson Avenue)

On 10057 Emerson Avenue on the east side of Parkersburg, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Parkersburg East (4.3, 53 reviews) is the city's only hot-tub-search hotel and a newer 4-star IHG Holiday Inn Express with strong subratings: rooms 4.8 (elite - reflects new-property freshness), cleanliness 4.5, sleep quality 4.5, service 4.4, location 4.4, value 4.0. Priced $110 per night. Amenities include free parking, WiFi, fitness center, pool, free breakfast, offsite bowling and tennis, and kids stay free. Recent 5-star praise: 'This hotel seems to be quite new. The rooms are lovely and well thought out. They have a bench where you can put your suitcase and hooks above it to hang things. The bed and linens were very good also. We hadn't been to a' newer IHG in a while. A 4-star reviewer noted 'great folks, clean rooms and plenty of places nearby to get some grub. The only downside I noted is the entrance to the parking lot has a significant drainage trench in it, and it needs to be driven across slowly.' Candid 1-star flag: one reviewer reported 'incredibly dirty and needs a complete renovation. The towels were ripped with holes in them. Shower curtain had blood stains on it. Carpet/tile floors' - contradicting the 4.8 rooms subrating and reading as an outlier bad room. A 1-star wheelchair-accessible reviewer reported the roll-in shower's exhaust fan did not work and the AC thermostat could not be adjusted. Small property (only 53 reviews) - one bad experience weights heavily. About 10 minutes from downtown Parkersburg and Point Park, 15 minutes from Vienna Grand Central Mall. Best for Blennerhassett Island tourists, Marietta cross-river weekenders, historic downtown Parkersburg visitors, business travelers and family visitors.

Things to do in Parkersburg

Beyond the hotel room

Julia-Ann Square Historic District (about 10 minutes west from the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Parkersburg) is the city's marquee heritage attraction - one of the largest concentrations of Victorian-era architecture in West Virginia, listed on the National Register. The signature event is the December Christmas Home Tour, when private Victorian homes open to walking tours (book far ahead - the tour draws regional visitors). The historic district is a walkable few blocks near downtown.

Point Park at the Ohio and Little Kanawha river confluence anchors downtown Parkersburg - riverfront green space with the seasonal Blennerhassett Island sternwheeler dock, Fourth of July fireworks over the Ohio River, and sternwheeler festival events. Blennerhassett Island State Park (accessed via the seasonal sternwheeler from Point Park, May-October) is the region's marquee historic destination - a 500-acre Ohio River island with the reconstructed Blennerhassett Mansion built by Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett in 1798 and famously tied to the Aaron Burr conspiracy of 1806. Horse-drawn wagon tours, mansion tours, walking trails and cycling.

Oil and Gas Museum downtown preserves the world's first commercial oil well heritage that made the Parkersburg region a mid-1800s boom town before Titusville PA and California. Blennerhassett Historical State Park visitor center downtown supports the island tour experience with exhibits and orientation. Neighboring Vienna (10 min north) offers Grand Central Mall and restaurant row; Fenton Art Glass Museum in Williamstown (about 15 min east) preserves the century-old Fenton Art Glass company heritage on the WV Glass Trail.

Marietta, Ohio (about 30 minutes north across the Ohio River via I-77) is the first permanent Northwest Territory settlement, founded 1788 - Campus Martius Museum, Ohio River Museum, historic downtown, Rossi Pasta and the Muskingum River sternwheeler festival. Spring warms Blennerhassett Island tour season and Julia-Ann Square walking tours, summer is peak Fourth of July fireworks and Blennerhassett family weekends, fall Ohio Valley foliage runs mid-October, and December brings the Julia-Ann Square Christmas Home Tour and Holiday Inn Express indoor-pool business-travel demand.

For couples

Why a Parkersburg hot tub suite works for romance

For couples, the Holiday Inn Express Parkersburg East offers a newer 4-star chain-hotel base for the Mid-Ohio Valley rather than a marketed romance property - the rooms 4.8 subrating and 4.5 cleanliness reflect new-property freshness that appeals to couples wanting a clean modern overnight for a Julia-Ann Square Christmas Home Tour, Blennerhassett Island historic weekend or Marietta cross-river visit. For a marketed Whirlpool Suite in the region drive about 30 minutes east on Route 50 to Ellenboro's Sleep Inn Hwy 50 (property carousel confirmed Whirlpool Suite - the Mid-Ohio Valley's private-whirlpool marquee). For the WV heritage-luxury romance flagship drive about 4 hours southeast to White Sulphur Springs for The Greenbrier. For a private-cabin hot tub in New River Gorge country drive about 3 hours south to Hico's Country Road Cabins. Parkersburg's romance appeal is the Victorian Julia-Ann Square heritage and Ohio-River-confluence historic setting rather than in-room amenities.

Many of the Parkersburg properties below offer extras on request — champagne service, rose-petal turn-down, or late check-out. Mention your occasion at booking; most front desks try to help.

"I've stopped here a few times traveling back and forth from work to home. I was towing my car behind a U-Haul last winter when it started snowing heavily. I was able to get a good, clean room for the night at a fair price. The place feels new. Everything is modern and good shape. Parking was great - especially towing a car trailer behind a U-Haul."

Tub types, explained

What's the difference between a jacuzzi, whirlpool, and soaking tub?

Jacuzzi

Technically a brand name, but used generically for any jetted tub. In hotel listings, "jacuzzi suite" almost always means a private in-room tub with built-in air or water jets. Heat is usually preset; jets are user-controlled.

Whirlpool

Functionally identical to a jacuzzi — water jets circulate heated water for a massage effect. The term is more common at Marriott, Hilton, and Wyndham brands. Most "whirlpool suites" hold two adults comfortably.

Soaking tub

Deeper than a standard bathtub, usually 18–22 inches, but with no jets. Common in boutique and luxury hotels — quieter, more spa-like, and better for a long hot soak than the jet-driven hum of a jacuzzi.

Hot tub

In strict use, a standalone heated tub holding 100°F+ water. In hotel marketing, often used interchangeably with jacuzzi or whirlpool. A genuine in-room "hot tub" with full thermostat control is rare outside cabin-style resorts.

Every listing on this page specifies which type you'll find in the room. We list only properties with the tub in your room — not in a shared pool area or the lobby spa.

Why trust us

Hand-verified. No AI filler.

Every hotel on this page has been personally verified to have a private, in-room hot tub or jacuzzi — not a shared pool tub, not a bathroom soaker, not a spa amenity you have to book. We cross-check three sources for every listing: the hotel's own room photos and descriptions, recent guest reviews on TripAdvisor and Google, and direct confirmation from the hotel where unclear. We don't take payment for placement, and we don't generate listings with AI. If a hotel's tub status changes or a property closes, the page updates the next time we re-verify the city (Dothan was last checked May 2026).
