Where to stay
Not every area in Berkeley Springs hits the same vibe. Here's where each verified property actually sits, and what each pocket feels like at night.
On South Washington Street at 110 S. Washington Street directly across from Berkeley Springs State Park in downtown Berkeley Springs, The Country Inn of Berkeley Springs (4.5, 644 reviews) is the historic in-town anchor - a 4-star property with the strongest walkable position in the city (walk out the door to the state-park bathhouse for a Roman bath soak, downtown restaurants, art galleries and antique shops). Cleanliness 4.5, location 4.8 (highest in the city), service 4.6 and sleep quality 4.5 subratings all excellent across a huge 644-review base, plus rooms 4.2 and value 4.3 solid at $130 nightly. Amenities include on-site restaurant, pub bar/lounge (reviewer-favorite bartender 'Bodie' mentioned in multiple 2026 reviews), sauna, spa, conference facilities, banquet room, EV chargers, gift shop, free parking and free WiFi. Recent 5-star praise from a June 2026 Perfect WV stay reviewer: 'our second time visiting Berkley Springs and second stay at this Inn. We stayed in the newer section which is attached to the inn via a walkway, loved our room, the pub, bartenders and food. Local brewery was a lot fun as was a soak across the park at the original bath house.' Multiple recent 5-star reviews specifically praise bartender Bodie, the pub food (French onion soup a must), the free EV chargers, dog-friendly rooms and the direct-across-park position for the state-park bathhouse Roman baths. Candid recent flags include an August 2026 2-star 'poor quality decor, polyester bed linens, improperly trained front desk' and an April 2026 1-star dispute over pet-policy signage. Best for DC-metro weekend spa travelers, Roman bath state-park soakers, historic downtown weekenders, Apple Butter Festival weekend visitors, motorcycle-touring travelers, romantic couples spa getaways and EV-driving travelers.
On Cold Run Valley Road at 3621 Cold Run Valley Road about 10 minutes southwest of downtown Berkeley Springs in the Cacapon Mountains, Coolfont Resort (4.2, 165 reviews) is the mountain wellness retreat - a 4-star rustic resort with A-Frame chalets, Woodland House cottages, main lodge and hiking trails across a large forested property. Subratings run 3.76-4.41 with location 4.4 and sleep quality 4.41 strongest, cleanliness 4.29 solid, rooms 4.17 and service 4.08 mid-tier, value 3.76 the honest weakness at $140-$149 nightly rates. Amenities include Tree Top Restaurant on-site (Wednesday all-you-can-eat wings praised by an October 2024 5-star reviewer), indoor pool (hedged temperature per one reviewer), indoor jacuzzi (hedged temperature per a 2025 reviewer who wrote 'the jacuzzi wasn't hot at all - it's actually colder than the pool'), sauna, tennis and pickleball courts, fitness center, hiking trails, meeting rooms, pet-friendly cabins with dog-treat welcome bags. CONFIRMED IN-ROOM JACUZZI ROOMS in the main lodge per a September 2024 5-star reviewer who wrote 'the lodge has jacuzzi rooms available.' Room 101 has a bad odor' report and a November 2025 3-star noting 'the hotel doesn't have a sign on the building, so you don't really know if it was the SurePlus Best Western' (property has minimal exterior signage) plus a 2024 3-star 'windows did not open, breakfast served late (7 AM), no Grab N Go bag.' Things to do in Berkeley Springs
Berkeley Springs State Park is the marquee draw and the reason the town exists - the still-operating historic Roman baths at the center of downtown Berkeley Springs, using the same 74-degree mineral spring water that George Washington and his surveying party first documented in 1748. The state-park bathhouse offers traditional Roman bath sessions (a two-person walk-in Roman bath) and private mineral-water tub soaks year-round, with reservations recommended for weekends. The state park is the only walkable attraction from The Country Inn (directly across the street).
Cacapon Resort State Park about 10 minutes south of downtown offers a 3,000-plus-acre state park with the Robert Trent Jones-designed Cacapon Golf Course (an 18-hole championship course routinely ranked among the top mountain golf courses in the Mid-Atlantic), hiking trails to Cacapon Mountain, a lake for swimming and boating, cabins and a state park lodge. Ice Mountain Preserve (Nature Conservancy) about 30 minutes west of Berkeley Springs is a unique cold-air-vent talus-slope microclimate ecosystem that keeps rare northern plants growing at Southern latitudes - reservation-only guided hikes only.
Prospect Peak overlook about 10 minutes north of downtown was ranked by National Geographic among America's top scenic views - a Cacapon Mountains overlook with the North Branch Potomac River valley below and the panoramic Cacapon Mountains skyline; Panorama at the Peak is a highly-rated mountaintop restaurant at Prospect Peak with the same view.
Downtown Berkeley Springs is a walkable historic downtown of art galleries, antique shops, independent restaurants (Berkeley Springs Brewing Company across from the park), coffee shops, The Star Theatre (historic downtown movie theater) and the seasonal Berkeley Springs Farmers Market. Berkeley Castle is a historic hilltop stone castle just north of downtown (private, viewable from the road). The Berkeley Springs Apple Butter Festival on Columbus Day weekend is the largest weekend of the local year - historic downtown apple-butter cooking, craft vendors, live music.
Beyond Berkeley Springs, quick day trips include Martinsburg for the Holiday Inn Martinsburg in-room whirlpool marquee (40 minutes east), Shepherdstown for the Bavarian Inn Rhine-view resort (1 hour east), Charles Town for the Carriage Inn B&B state-top-rated marquee (1 hour east), Winchester VA for downtown history and shopping (1 hour south) and Hancock MD for the C&O Canal towpath (10 minutes north).

When to visit
Hot tub stays read differently in February than they do in July. Here's what to expect across the year — temperatures, signature events, the local vibe, and how rates move.
Tub types, explained
Technically a brand name, but used generically for any jetted tub. In hotel listings, "jacuzzi suite" almost always means a private in-room tub with built-in air or water jets. Heat is usually preset; jets are user-controlled.
Functionally identical to a jacuzzi — water jets circulate heated water for a massage effect. The term is more common at Marriott, Hilton, and Wyndham brands. Most "whirlpool suites" hold two adults comfortably.
Deeper than a standard bathtub, usually 18–22 inches, but with no jets. Common in boutique and luxury hotels — quieter, more spa-like, and better for a long hot soak than the jet-driven hum of a jacuzzi.
In strict use, a standalone heated tub holding 100°F+ water. In hotel marketing, often used interchangeably with jacuzzi or whirlpool. A genuine in-room "hot tub" with full thermostat control is rare outside cabin-style resorts.
Every listing on this page specifies which type you'll find in the room. We list only properties with the tub in your room — not in a shared pool area or the lobby spa.

Why trust us
Every hotel on this page has been personally verified to have a private, in-room hot tub or jacuzzi — not a shared pool tub, not a bathroom soaker, not a spa amenity you have to book. We cross-check three sources for every listing: the hotel's own room photos and descriptions, recent guest reviews on TripAdvisor and Google, and direct confirmation from the hotel where unclear. We don't take payment for placement, and we don't generate listings with AI. If a hotel's tub status changes or a property closes, the page updates the next time we re-verify the city (Dothan was last checked May 2026).
