Amenities include free parking, indoor pool with jacuzzi on-site (per traveler photo caption 'The Jacuzzi' - shared pool-area jacuzzi, not in-room), free breakfast and non-smoking property. Recent candid flags are significant. A 1-star reported 'All unoccupied rooms had the doors wide open. Building had odd smell. Room above ours had leaked at some point as there was a huge patch in the ceiling - the wallpaper was painted over. The next morning we had to cover' up ceiling issues. A 2-star: 'Steer Clear. Although the hotel looks ok from the outside, some of the characters in the parking lot were scary! There were people sitting in a van by the front door with music blaring. A lot of early morning door slamming as the workers' left for work. A 3-star Ohio River review: 'The hotel to choose if you want to watch river traffic. There is nothing fancy about the New Martinsville Inn although it does have a nice pool and hot tub. Our room on the first floor was clean and quiet with a fridge and microwave.' A 5-star: 'Great place, friendly and welcoming. At first I was disappointed because the pool was closed, but the customer service definitely made up for it. The rooms were clean. We felt very welcome and had a great experience.' Book with realistic expectations - value-tier property with pipeline-worker and Marcellus-Shale-contractor clientele mix. Best for Ohio River scenic-driving visitors on WV Route 2, Wetzel County heritage tourists, Sistersville day-trippers, pipeline-worker overnights and Northern Panhandle stopovers.
