What Guests Are Saying
“We celebrated our 30th anniversary at the Lion & the Rose and stayed in the beautiful Tom Craig Room on the third floor. It truly felt like having our own little Victorian house. The room was spacious, relaxing, charming, and filled with the historic character we absolutely love. This is easily one of the best bed-and-breakfasts we’ve ever experienced. Every morning, the breakfast was incredible, and each day we returned to find thoughtful homemade treats waiting in our room. Those little touches made our anniversary feel even more special. The location couldn’t have been better. We were just minutes from Asheville’s art scene, live music, amazing restaurants, chocolate shops, and all the unique places we enjoy exploring. If you’re looking for a warm, welcoming, beautifully restored Victorian inn with exceptional hospitality, We highly recommend the Lion & the Rose. It made our 30th anniversary unforgettable, and we can’t wait to return.” — Leslie E., 5 stars
“The Lion and the Rose is a gem in one of the most historic, charming and quite neighborhoods in Asheville. My wife and I have been to Asheville many, many times over the years. We ususally stay with dear friends; but to celebrate our 50th anniversary, we decided to stay at a bed and breakfast in Montford. We could not have chosen a better place to do that. Karen and Steve and excellent innkeepers. they made us feel more like good friends than guests. The room was well appointed and the queen size bed quite comfortable. The large front porch offered a place to sit and enjoy the beauty of area, with lots of trees, song birds, and no bugs.” — Geoffrey S., 5 stars
“This is a great place to stay. Easy to find and within walking distance of 2 popular restaurants (so you may need to book). Your hosts couldn’t be more accommodating and solicitous that you have everything you need to make your stay memorable. There is no lift but a flight of easy going stairs gets you to your room. Rooms are spacious with en-suite bathroom, TV and space to put your bits and pieces. Breakfast is served at 9am in the dining room and very good it was too. There is always coffee and soft drinks available Internet is easy to connect and use, even my kindle like it!” — UKTurkeyTrotter, 5 stars

What guests are saying about The Lion and The Rose Bed and Breakfast.
"I can't say enough great things about this beautiful old home and the lovely hosts Karen and Steve! We visited during the Christmas season and the house was decorated and so very cozy. Linens are clean, beds are comfy, the water was hot, and the rooms are warm. Breakfast was also stellar. We had something different every day of our stay and each day was delicious. From hasbrown waffles/eggs/bacon to freshly baked muffins, egg cups and yogurt parfaits, breakfast was tasty and filling. Not to mention the coffee service direct to our room each morning beforehand and the daily afternoon treats at our door when we returned from our Asheville adventures. But what truly made our stay exceptional were the hosts, Karen and Steve. They were incredibly hospitable, attentive and accommodating. I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts and this was by far the best one. They run this place like a home, not a business, and it truly makes for a wonderful stay and a difficult goodbye. They also provide excellent recommendations of things to do, see, and eat. If we're ever in Asheville again, this is the only place we'll stay!"

They take care of all accommodations and send you details. You show up and enjoy. No hassle with planning. Spot. On. With The Lion and the Rose Bed and Breakfast! Inside looked like a fairy tale story book from simpler days and we felt cozy and relaxed. Karen and Steve, the owners, were the best part! Delicious breakfast, kind hospitality, and the best local advice for our plans. Highly recommend this bed and breakfast. You will want to leave a review like I did!"

We were warmly greeted by Karen upon arriving. Our room was beautiful and clean and comfortable. The bedding and mattress were very nice and we slept like babies. We had luxurious bathrobes after showers. Books were available to read and my daughter even found one about Biltmore:we were there to see all the decorations. Snacks and drinks were available and we even sampled some of Steve’s awesome beer. Morning coffee was placed outside our door:which was a blessing. Breakfast was a great delight. We had eggs, bacon and the most delicious pancakes. We will definitely stay here again! Karen and Steve make you feel welcome and special!"
