About The Hotel

Q Express Inn & Suites is a 3-star former-Quality-Inn budget alternative at 161 Hospitality Lane directly off I-77 exit 170 in the same Mineral Wells commercial cluster about 5 minutes from Holiday Inn Express and about 10 minutes south of downtown Parkersburg in Wood County. Rated 3.1 across 47 reviews with service 3.88 and location 3.87 strongest, cleanliness 3.65 solid, sleep quality 3.4 mid-tier and rooms 3.17 the honest weakness. CONFIRMED indoor/outdoor pool and shared hot tub per multiple reviewers - a September 2018 5-star wrote ‘the pool and hot tub was nice! We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area!’ (Jill C.). SIGNIFICANT CANDID FLAGS: a November 2019 1-star reports ‘condoms in the vending machine. People having sex in the hot tub when I walked my kids to the pool. Blankets were old pillows were stained and gross floors were stained and disgusting. There’s a strip club next door’ (Bruce 3.); a July 2019 2-star reports ‘the indoor/outdoor pool is nice and the breakfast was above average, with real plates and cutlery. All rooms are touted as non-smoking; however my room had been a former smoking room and stank. There were cigarette burn marks at various places in the room’ (Laurie R.); an August 2022 3-star notes ‘basic clean hotel. Room is clean and well stocked but slightly outdated. For $50 a night it is a good deal for basic accommodations. Only complaint is the cigarette smoke smell inside the hallway and entrance foyer’ (Harold B.). Amenities are minimal (free parking, free WiFi, non-smoking hotel designation despite the smoking-room reports). Best only for travelers who need a rock-bottom rate, have confirmed pool and hot tub availability directly with the property before arrival and accept the CANDID neighborhood flags including the adjacent adult entertainment venue and prior hot-tub-behavior incidents. All other Mid-Ohio Valley travelers should choose the Holiday Inn Express next door at $115 nightly for the top-rated 4-star chain-hotel experience with cleanliness 4.74.

"2 years ago till today I notice one hell of a difference! The new maintenance guy knows a bit more than the old one and is slowly making things better as he can, the cleaning staff is very pleasant and they clean well. The owner/manager is a kind guy who won't tolerate anything wrong going on in his lot or on his property and I sleep very well knowing my vehicle is on camera and he is always watching it or walking the parking lot himself at night. They don't have a continental breakfast but the coffee is always fresh if not you can ask and they will simply make you fresh without being rude. The rooms are basic, they do need updated and new wallpaper but the sheets, towels were clean and I never seen one bug in the 3 weeks I stayed. I wouldn't say this place is cheap because there is cheaper ones in Marietta BUT... MUCH WORSE!!! Overall I give it 4stars and hopefully continue to see improvements even if done slowly. Better than most others. Oh and the strip joint across the street... It's quiet and I've never seen anything going on there."

"No breakfast and no pool! Based on conversations, it sounds like neither have been available since the pandemic started. This is a budget hotel, so keep that in mind when booking. The staff were great and extremely friendly. They were trying to air out our room when we arrived so it was still a bit musty and quite hot but we appreciated the effort. The microwave and refrigerator worked well, the shower had good pressure and hot water, and the air conditioning worked fabulously. The bedding were old and had some holes, the towels were slightly stained, and the carpet had seen better days. Thankfully no bed bugs like other reviews have mentioned but there were some dead bugs For the price, it was a great deal!"

"I wasn't expecting much for $34 but the price, location and ease of registering was hard to pass up. Pros were price, location, parking, it was quiet, the window opened so we could air it out. Cons were it's definitely a bit old and dated and had a musty stale odor, beds not super great and can tell there are springs in them... I wish I'd brought my own pillow but we doubled them up so it was better. .. The odor dissipated once we opened window for a bit. But... We saw zero bugs or cob webs/spider webs!!! It was clean.. Stains noted on furniture, peeling paint, scuffs here and there, etc. Like I said.. It's old. There was no microwave if that matters to anyone but there is a small fridge. My hubs said shower pressure was great. It was under 2 miles one way to a great local coffee shop, Rise and Restore... And about 2 miles the other way to Tudor's Biscuit World. We didn't look for breakfast or coffee in lobby...we'd already made other arrangements. Did note pool is drained and were told it has a leak they haven't located."
