11th Street Dunbar (317 11th Street)
On 317 11th Street south of I-64 exit 55 in Dunbar, Red Roof Inn Charleston - Dunbar (2.5, 12 reviews) is the town's only hot-tub-search hotel and a 2-star Red Roof value-tier property priced $55-$71 per night. LOW OVERALL RATING and only 12 reviews with weak subratings: sleep quality 3.6 (top), location 3.4, service 3.0, cleanliness 3.0, rooms 2.9, value 2.1. Amenities include free parking, WiFi, pet-friendly rooms and non-smoking property. NO POOL, NO IN-ROOM WHIRLPOOL, NO SHARED HOT TUB - the property is a stripped-down Red Roof that shows up in 'hot tub' hotel search results despite not having a hot tub of any kind. Recent candid flags are severe. A December 20, 2025 1-star bed-bug report: 'DO NOT STAY HERE. BED BUGS. I reported bed bugs by phone on the evening of 12/20/2025. The front desk agent repeatedly hung up on me. I was forced to contact the Health Department and the Better Business Bureau.' Another 1-star: 'Our last visit, there were ants in our room and the bed was broke. We were also accused of stealing towels and they kept $25 of the $100 deposit.' Another 1-star: 'A dump. The air conditioner is noisy.' One 4-star: 'Great for the PRICE!! Dakota at the front desk was the friendliest greeting I have had for a while. No charge for a pet. My regular more expensive hotels don't do that!' - the front-desk friendliness and pet-friendly no-charge policy is the one positive. Serious cautions apply. Best only for last-resort budget overnights with clear-eyed expectations - consider Elkview's La Quinta 4.0/462 (20 min north, $74-$79) as a much better value-tier alternative for a Charleston metro overnight.
