About The Hotel

Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston is the largest-review Charleston hot-tub-search property and the downtown atrium-suite Hilton - a 3-star Hilton at 300 Court Street in downtown Charleston in Kanawha County, two blocks north of Kanawha Boulevard East. Rated 3.9 across a huge 1,544-review base with location 4.5 the strongest subrating (walkable downtown position), cleanliness 4.1, rooms 4.2, service 4.2 and sleep quality 4.2 all solid, plus value 3.9 the honest weakness at $122-$131 nightly rates. Amenities include pool, free hot breakfast, valet parking, fitness center, pet-friendly rooms, kids-and-family-friendly amenities and the signature Embassy Suites atrium with the two-room-suite floor plan (separate living-room area with couch plus a bedroom), plus walkable access to the West Virginia State Capitol Complex, Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences, Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center, Haddad Riverfront Park (Live on the Levee) and downtown Charleston dining. Recent 5-star praise focuses on staff members Sam (valet) and medical-conference-friendly service: ‘amazing and exemplary. Traveled to town for a medical conference. Sams demeanor, actions, and politeness were exemplary. He took the time to explain the valet parking in detail and was able to get me in quickly and efficiently. Even assisted with luggage’; ‘great staff, clean rooms! Had a great time at the Embassy with the family. Last little trip before heading home for school start up. The facility and rooms were very clean. Staff were so friendly! Great price for the quality of service you get’; and ‘great service & stay! Sam with the valet was polite and friendly!’ SIGNIFICANT CANDID RECENT SERVICE-CUTBACK flag to read first: an August 2026 2-star from a 50-plus-night 20-year Hilton Honors regular titled ‘can we grab that last nickel of profit please (NOW!)’ reported cost-cutting service reductions during first 3 hours of check-in (‘here is what I encountered today during my first 3 hours here: 1. Stuck in elevator 2. No hand soap by bathroom sink. They used to leave little bars of soap but apparently they make more money this EZ way. 3. No sanitary wipes in workout room. Again, less staff time/EZ for them/100% consistent empty for the past decade at least. Hilariously, the dispenser has sat there unused for the past decade at least. I have stayed here 50 + nites over the past 2 decades. I can see why it averages 3.9 stars as it does seem nice’). Best for downtown-Charleston medical-conference travelers (WVU Medicine Charleston Area Medical Center), Capitol Complex two-room-suite family travelers, Legislature-week travelers and downtown atrium-suite fans wanting the signature Embassy Suites floor plan - accept the cost-cutting service reductions at 2026 rates.

What Guests Are Saying

“We truly enjoyed our stay at the Embassy Suites. Even though there were several people checking in at the same time, the clerk kept her cool and even managed to greet each and every one with a genuine smile, both facial and with her voice. Our room was perfect - nice and cool - and very clean and comfortable.I loved the bath towels - nice & thick - and smelled fresh & clean. However, I was surprised there was no bar soap - neither at the sink nor shower. I did use the hand soap liquid, but I prefer a nice facial bar to clean my face with. The bed - so comfortable - I fell asleep immediately once my head hit the pillow. The nightly “Happy Hour” is a nice wind-down time after being on the road all day. The bartender handled the crowd efficiently and professionally with a smile as well. And the appetizers….what a selection!! Another nice thing, there was plenty of seating to accommodate the sold out crowd. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely scrumptious! My cooked-to-order omelette was perfect. Oh - BTW, the in-room coffee is EXCELLENT!!! And even though the hotel was sold out (there were tons of kids there attending cheer and volleyball camps) creating lots of noise, once back in your room - quiet serenity. We (there were 4 of us) elected to eat dinner at the hotel restaurant - the burgers & fried chicken were excellent. Check-out the next morning was flawless. Keeping in mind this hotel is in downtown Charleston, parking was a bit challenging. They had several handicap parking spaces along the front side of the hotel and these were free. Valet parking was $21 per night, or you could park a block away (with a tag provided by the hotel) for free. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely choose this Embassy Suites again.” — sloopie1, 5 stars

“Nice 7-story atrium, clean and comfortable room. Breakfast had bacon, pre-made pancakes, made-to-order omelets. Plenty of outlets and jacks in room. On the negative side, we had to wait 30 minutes for room to be cleaned, and parking is either valet ($20), parking garage X minutes away, or street parking.” — htwh, 5 stars

"Hilton member passing through with my family for one night. Friendly welcoming staff. Elevators were fast. Pool looked clean and inviting. Room was comfortable and spacious. Hot water with good pressure. Dog friendly. Very walkable area. Huge free breakfast with lots of options. Contrary to other reviews, we appreciated that there was a parking garage and gladly paid the $12 so we didn't have to find parking in an unfamiliar city. Made a last minute reservation and made a mistake on it. The front desk chat on my app was responsive and revised my reservation. Would stay here again!"

"I try to avoid staying in Charleston WV at all costs, but sometimes it's unavoidable. This time, we stayed at the Embassy Suites and I will never avoid Charleston again as long as there's an available room at this hotel! Though somewhat older, the rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable and inviting. The beds could use a pillow-top pad, but overall were mostly comfy. The hotel staff and valets were genuinely welcoming and kind. The breakfast with made to order eggs was great. Dinner options were fine for a casual meal at the end of a long day. We'll be back!"

"The hotel is honestly great from the moment you walk in. The food is very good, and the rooms are excellent and very clean. The only issue we had was on the first night. There was no soap in the shower or the sink. When we called to ask for body soap, it took about 20 minutes to arrive, which was a bit frustrating. Aside from that, it’s a very good hotel and we had a nice stay overall."
