About The Hotel

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Charleston South is the value alternative in the Southridge cluster - a 3-star hotel at 105 Alex Lane in the Southridge south corridor off I-64 exit 56 south of downtown Charleston in Kanawha County (about 2 minutes south of Hampton Inn Charleston-Southridge). Rated 3.8 across 752 reviews with cleanliness 4.3 solid, location 4.2 solid, rooms 4.2 and service 4.2 mid-tier, sleep quality 4.1 and value 3.9 the honest weaknesses at $89-$102 nightly rates - typically the lowest nightly rate among the six Charleston hot-tub-search hotels. Amenities include heated pool per a May 2026 5-star (‘the pool was heated. It is dog friendly!’), free breakfast, fitness center, kids-stay-free rooms, business center, meeting rooms, free parking and free WiFi. Recent 5-star praise: ‘weekend get away. We were in town for a graduation and to meet a new grandson. The staff were very friendly. The room was clean and had what we needed. The pool was heated. It is dog friendly! We will stay again.’ Recent 4-star context: ‘we stayed just one night, and it was fine. Pros: Room was large (suite) with a couch & chair. There were 2 TVs. Bed was fairly comfortable. Decent pillows. Room was quiet. The room had a microwave & fridge, and coffee maker. The breakfast had some good hot & cold options.’ SIGNIFICANT CANDID RECENT FLAGS: a June 2026 2-star titled ‘Disappointed and frustrated’ reported an uncleaned assigned room (‘checked in and then we were told the room we were given was not cleaned’), then no towels in the upgraded suite, no mattress-pad cover on the king bed and no linens or pillows for the pull-out sofa (‘when I inquired about linens for pull out we were initially told they did not have any to give us’); a June 2026 1-star titled ‘Terrible’ reported no refrigerator and a broken TV with a ‘there is nothing they could do’ front-desk response and a refusal to move rooms despite Expedia showing available rooms; an April 2026 2-star titled ‘Avoid if you can’ reported disinterested front-desk staff, very worn and stained furnishings and a broken TV remote that a manager only produced from a basket of spares after checkout; an April 2026 2-star titled ‘Tired place in need of complete overhaul’ reported dingy hallways, dirty elevator carpet, really old furniture, missing nightstand drawer handles and a self-opening nightstand drawer; and an August 2025 1-star titled ‘Dirty Trip’ reported a dirty room and a ‘clean it yourself’ front-desk response to a driver whose room had a broken TV (‘our drivers room was dirty and tv did not work. She was told by the front desk that they would get her some cleaning supplies so she could clean it herself’). Best only for value-first Southridge travelers accepting the honest weakness across cleanliness, rooms and service - the Hampton Inn Charleston-Southridge two minutes north at 1 Preferred Place is the TOP-RATED Charleston pick at $30-$40 more per night with confirmed shared indoor pool and hot tub.

The room had a microwave & fridge, and coffee maker. The breakfast had some good hot & cold options. Cons: The ceiling of the room we were in had a few water stains, The pool heater was not working when we were there. Employees smoking in front of the hotel. ( personal pet peeve)” — MountainlakeGirl, 4 stars

“Fairly nice hotel. The beds were comfortable, the staff was friendly and it was a quiet stay despite being next to the interstate. Breakfast was well tended, definitely a classic continental meal. Coffee was better than I’ve had at higher priced hotels. As for complaints, everything in our room (aside from the beds) was well-used. Overall, definitely a good stay for the price.” — John B., 4 stars

"This hotel was okay for a few hours. The rooms have very thin walls, and you can hear noises from the hallway and voices through the walls. There were some stray cats around. The bathroom looked a bit old and somewhat dirty. The breakfast was better. I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures."
