About The Hotel

Motel 6 Charles Town, WV is a 2-star Motel 6 at 106 Jefferson Terrace Road about 5 minutes west of downtown Charles Town near the US 340 commercial strip in Jefferson County - WEST VIRGINIA’S STRONGEST CANDID WARNING among all hot-tub-search properties in the state. Rated 2.4 across 74 reviews with cleanliness 2.7, rooms 2.3, sleep quality 2.5, service 2.8 and value 2.6 subratings all deeply weak. Amenities include an outdoor pool, free parking, free WiFi, pet-friendly rooms, 24-hour front desk and laundry service. The review record is severe. A 1-star titled ‘Horror Hotel!’ reports ‘dried (vomit?) on the bedspread, knife holes in the bathroom door, the smoke alarm had been ripped out, mold and pubic hair above the shower nozzle, dead bugs all over the place’ - the reviewer says ‘even if you have to stay in your car, do not stay here.’ A 1-star titled ‘SERIOUSLY DO NOT DO IT!!!’ reports ‘sketchy people all around the outsides of the rooms. The beds had stains on the sheets, looking like urine. Then there were cockroaches running around the sink area.’ A 2-star titled ‘Warning: You don’t always get what you reserved’ describes ‘rusty metal and crumbling concrete make up the outside. There was a lump of what looked like moldy sheets and towels on the ground in front of the room next door. The bathroom had a dirty tub and something red smeared in.’ A 4-star exception from a pleasant-staff review reports the motel ‘has been completely renovated and provides both refrigerator and microwave. I found it to be very clean and comfortable,’ but this stands against the overwhelming weight of 1-star and 2-star specific-flag reports. The property is 5 minutes from Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races and 15 minutes from Harpers Ferry NHP, but the candid record makes it unsuitable for a planned stay. Book only in a genuine emergency where every other Eastern Panhandle property is sold out. For a well-regarded budget alternative drive 30 minutes west to the Motel 6 Martinsburg (4.2/252, cleanliness 4.5) or the Holiday Inn Martinsburg (4.0/277, confirmed in-room whirlpool tub).

What Guests Are Saying

“This motel has been completely renovated and provides both refrigerator and microwave. I found it to be very clean and comfortable.” — Gary L., 4 stars

“Rusty metal and crumbling concrete make up the outside. There was a lump of what looked like moldy sheets and towels on the ground in front of the room next door. The bathroom had a dirty tub and something red smeared in spots on the door frame.” — Waverly C., 2 stars

“This place was NONE of that. There were more sketchy people all around the outsides of the rooms. The beds had stains on the sheets, looking like urine. Then there were cockroaches running around the sink area and in the bathroom. The true horror was the piles of dead cockroaches and debris all behind both beds.” — Troy S., 1 star

"The room had all the basic needs necessary for a good nights sleep. The key cards would stop working constantly. Aside from that. Everything was great!!!"

"Stayed here Sat. March 2nd 2025, for the first and last time. The room was filthy. Sheets seemed clean. The carpet was gross. Scratches on the doors inside the room from animals scratching them. Toilet shower were poorly maintained and dirty. Water pressure poor. If that was not enough, first thing in the morning I awake to roaches in the bed with me. As soon as I got home washed everything that went with me. Cheap, yes. But I've stayed at Motel 6 all over the US, most are good for a short stay, this one wins as the worst."
