Washington DC is about 75 minutes east via US 340 and I-270; MARC Brunswick Line commuter rail from Duffields station (10 minutes west) runs to DC Union Station on weekday schedules. “This is our 7th visit and we can’t recommend it enough to our friends! Yvonne and Johnathan are so inviting and accommodating to our every needs. The breakfasts are extraordinary and the afternoon freshly baked cookies or treats (GF too!) are not to be passed up! This is our first time staying in The Carriage House Suite (detached from the main house) and it was just as beautiful as the Robin’s Nest. The Carriage House is well suited for a family with a refrigerator, coffee and teas, upstairs bedroom (twin beds) and sitting area. A fireplace added not only ambiance but heat! All the rooms in the main house and Carriage House look designer decorated, spotlessly clean, spacious and quiet. Sitting on the porch (in the summertime) or in the sitting areas of the house any time of the day is just what we need to relax in this busy world. It’s centrally located to several fine restaurants and Harper’s Ferry NP. Downtown is within walking distance. Definitely stay once and you’ll return again and again!” — Cl T., 5 stars

“We’re just home from a long weekend stay at the Carriage Inn. It was wonderful in every respect. The inn is full of history and character, but it is still very “homey” and comfortable. Much of that has to do with the owners/operators, Yvonne and Jonathan. They were engaging, accommodating, and extremely knowledgeable about the history of the house, Charles Town, and the broader area. They also serve a totally delicious breakfast, and have baked goodies available during the day. There are places inside and outside the inn to sit and have a chat or read a book, and the historic part of town is just a short walk from the front door. We could have happily spent our entire time just relaxing at the inn and strolling into town for a meal, but important historic sites like Harper’s Ferry and the Antietam Battlefield are nearby and deserve a visit. Also, don’t miss the Jefferson County Museum which is a short walk from the inn. It’s small, but full of interesting information and artifacts.” — VinceH, 5 stars

“Excellent experience - we were the first guests for Donny, the new innkeeper. Our room was the one where General Sheridan stayed during the Civil War, but now with a full bathroom and running water! It was quiet and peaceful at night too. The chocolate chip muffins he baked for an evening snack were a hit. The breakfasts were great - tasty and well presented in a dining room full of history. Charles Town has many good restaurants, most within easy walking distance of the Inn. Harper’s Ferry was only an 11 minute drive away and Antietam battlefield another 25 minutes from there. Donny was kind and gracious. He gave us a walk through of the house since we were the only ones there that night (full up the next day though!) There is an amazing amount of history with this house and we’re glad we found it. Centrally located, full of history and a wonderful host! Highly recommended.” — Eric H., 5 stars
