Things to do in Copper Hill

Beyond the hotel room

Copper Hill's appeal is the Blue Ridge Parkway, downtown Floyd, and the small-town music-and-craft scene 20 minutes south. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs minutes east of the lodge with direct access to Bent Mountain overlooks — the Parkway is the marquee scenic drive of the eastern US. Downtown Floyd — 20 minutes south — is Virginia's marquee bluegrass and craft-artist town with brick storefronts, indie coffee shops, restaurants, and the legendary Floyd Country Store. The Floyd Country Store Friday Night Jamboree has been running since 1983 with old-time and bluegrass jams that spill into the streets. Chateau Morrisette winery sits 15 minutes south on the Parkway with tasting-room decks and the annual Black Dog Wine Festival. Rocky Knob Recreation Area on the Parkway (25 min south) offers wildflower walks and Mabry Mill views. Mabry Mill — one of the most-photographed spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway — is a 40-minute drive south. Downtown Roanoke and Mill Mountain Star are 25 minutes north for city dining. Grayson Highlands State Park — wild ponies and Virginia's highest peaks — is 90 minutes southwest for a peak-fall day trip. Spring dogwoods, cool summer nights at elevation, peak mid-October Blue Ridge foliage and quiet snowy winters shape the year.

There is more within easy reach: FloydFest music festival in late July (~30 min south); Chestnut Creek School of the Arts in Galax; The Cascades Falls trail in Pembroke (~90 min northwest); The New River Trail State Park. Seasonal highlights include FloydFest (late July), Blue Ridge Parkway peak fall foliage (mid-October) and the Floyd Country Store Friday Night Jamboree (year-round).

For couples

Why a Copper Hill hot tub suite works for romance

Copper Hill is a Blue Ridge quiet-getaway destination and one of the best small-lodge picks in the state — the Bent Mountain Lodge earns straight 5-star subratings for a couples-friendly setting with wrap-around deck, fire pits, private porches, and horses on the grounds. There is no in-room jacuzzi advertised, so couples specifically wanting a private soak should drive 3 hours northeast to Waynesboro's Iris Inn (4.9/1080 Shenandoah B&B with private-cottage hot tubs). For a Blue Ridge weekend of Parkway drives, Floyd bluegrass, Chateau Morrisette tastings and porch mountain views without needing a jacuzzi, Bent Mountain Lodge is one of Virginia's hidden 5-star country lodges — book several months ahead for peak fall foliage weekends.

Many of the Copper Hill properties below offer extras on request — champagne service, rose-petal turn-down, or late check-out. Mention your occasion at booking; most front desks try to help.

Getting here

How to reach Copper Hill

Copper Hill is on US-221 in Floyd County, about 20 minutes south of Roanoke via VA-221 and 20 minutes north of Floyd. Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) is about 40 minutes north on VA-221 — the closest regional airport, with connections to Charlotte, Atlanta and DC. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 5–10-minute drive east from the lodge with multiple nearby overlooks. A car is essential — this is rural Blue Ridge country with no local transit, no ride-share coverage and no walkable dining outside the lodge grounds; plan on driving to Floyd (20 min south) or Roanoke (20 min north) for meals. Highway access: US-221 runs southwest from Roanoke through Bent Mountain to Floyd; VA-8 heads south from Floyd to the Blue Ridge Parkway; I-81 is 40 minutes north via VA-221 for north-south Shenandoah Valley trips. Once you have arrived, plan to keep a car for day trips around the region; most attractions are an easy drive, and parking at the hotel is straightforward.

Tub types, explained

What's the difference between a jacuzzi, whirlpool, and soaking tub?

Jacuzzi

Technically a brand name, but used generically for any jetted tub. In hotel listings, "jacuzzi suite" almost always means a private in-room tub with built-in air or water jets. Heat is usually preset; jets are user-controlled.

Whirlpool

Functionally identical to a jacuzzi — water jets circulate heated water for a massage effect. The term is more common at Marriott, Hilton, and Wyndham brands. Most "whirlpool suites" hold two adults comfortably.

Soaking tub

Deeper than a standard bathtub, usually 18–22 inches, but with no jets. Common in boutique and luxury hotels — quieter, more spa-like, and better for a long hot soak than the jet-driven hum of a jacuzzi.

Hot tub

In strict use, a standalone heated tub holding 100°F+ water. In hotel marketing, often used interchangeably with jacuzzi or whirlpool. A genuine in-room "hot tub" with full thermostat control is rare outside cabin-style resorts.

Every listing on this page specifies which type you'll find in the room. We list only properties with the tub in your room — not in a shared pool area or the lobby spa.

Why trust us

Hand-verified. No AI filler.

Every hotel on this page has been personally verified to have a private, in-room hot tub or jacuzzi — not a shared pool tub, not a bathroom soaker, not a spa amenity you have to book. We cross-check three sources for every listing: the hotel's own room photos and descriptions, recent guest reviews on TripAdvisor and Google, and direct confirmation from the hotel where unclear. We don't take payment for placement, and we don't generate listings with AI. If a hotel's tub status changes or a property closes, the page updates the next time we re-verify the city (Dothan was last checked May 2026).
