Best areas in Hollins for a hot tub stay

Not every area in Hollins hits the same vibe. Here's where each verified property actually sits, and what each pocket feels like at night.

Plantation Road (I-81 North Roanoke Corridor)

The Plantation Road I-81 corridor is Hollins' brand-hotel spine in northern Roanoke County, with the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Roanoke, VA (4.3, 1,255 reviews) as the town's single hot-tub-search-relevant hotel. The strong-4 Radisson offers an indoor pool, fitness center, free hot breakfast, kids stay free, business center and conference facilities at $92-$121 nightly — best for I-81 travelers, Roanoke business visitors, Hollins University families and Blue Ridge Parkway trippers wanting reliable Radisson pool-hotel amenities just off the interstate.

Things to do in Hollins

Beyond the hotel room

Hollins' attractions cluster around Hollins University campus, north Roanoke County parks and quick access to downtown Roanoke. Hollins University is a historic 1842 women's university campus with the Botetourt Reading Room and the Wyndham Robertson Library. Downtown Roanoke and the Mill Mountain Star — 15 minutes south — anchor the region: the illuminated star atop Mill Mountain has crowned Roanoke since 1949 and is the marquee overlook of the Roanoke Valley. The Taubman Museum of Art downtown is a striking Randall Stout-designed contemporary museum. The Virginia Museum of Transportation displays historic locomotives from the Norfolk & Western. The Historic Roanoke City Market — one of the oldest continuously operated farmers' markets in the US — anchors downtown Saturday mornings. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 20 minutes southeast for the marquee scenic drive of the eastern US. Explore Park along the Roanoke River offers walking trails and a Blue Ridge Parkway visitor center. The Roanoke Star and Mill Mountain overlook is the marquee city-view viewpoint. Mild spring blooms on Hollins campus, warm summer festival nights, peak fall Blue Ridge foliage and cool winter shape the year.

There is more within easy reach: The Peaks of Otter on the Blue Ridge Parkway (~50 min northeast); Smith Mountain Lake (~45 min east); Blacksburg and Virginia Tech (~40 min west); Bedford's National D-Day Memorial (~30 min east). Seasonal highlights include the Roanoke Festival in the Park at Elmwood Park (Memorial Day weekend), Hollins University commencement (May), and Downtown Roanoke Dickens of a Christmas (November–December).

For couples

Why a Hollins hot tub suite works for romance

Hollins is an I-81 north-Roanoke suburb rather than a couples-retreat destination — the Country Inn & Suites is a Radisson with an indoor pool but no in-room jacuzzi. Couples wanting a genuine private soak in Virginia should drive 2 hours northeast to Waynesboro's Iris Inn (4.9/1080 Shenandoah B&B with private-cottage hot tubs and horseback riding) or south into the Blue Ridge for a Bent Mountain Lodge stay in Copper Hill. In Hollins itself the couples appeal is a downtown Roanoke dinner at the Hotel Roanoke, a Mill Mountain Star sunset, and a Blue Ridge Parkway drive — with the shared indoor pool as the soaker option back at the Radisson.

Many of the Hollins properties below offer extras on request — champagne service, rose-petal turn-down, or late check-out. Mention your occasion at booking; most front desks try to help.

"What kind of heaven keeps the pool open till midnight? You have found it. Dog friendly, clean, people working there in general were cheerful and lovely. Expedia didn't mention the dog deposit ($35 each) but I can't really blame the hotel for that. Or can I? Either way, who cares. The nights stay was a success."

"This is a nice and clean place to stay near Roanoke. The rooms are large and the Beds comfortable and a large TV 📺 The front desk person was quick and efficient. We stayed here while Visiting The National D Day Memorial in Bedford VA. and continuing on to the Blue Ridge Parkway that is very Close to here. Don’t hesitate to stay here"

Tub types, explained

What's the difference between a jacuzzi, whirlpool, and soaking tub?

Jacuzzi

Technically a brand name, but used generically for any jetted tub. In hotel listings, "jacuzzi suite" almost always means a private in-room tub with built-in air or water jets. Heat is usually preset; jets are user-controlled.

Whirlpool

Functionally identical to a jacuzzi — water jets circulate heated water for a massage effect. The term is more common at Marriott, Hilton, and Wyndham brands. Most "whirlpool suites" hold two adults comfortably.

Soaking tub

Deeper than a standard bathtub, usually 18–22 inches, but with no jets. Common in boutique and luxury hotels — quieter, more spa-like, and better for a long hot soak than the jet-driven hum of a jacuzzi.

Hot tub

In strict use, a standalone heated tub holding 100°F+ water. In hotel marketing, often used interchangeably with jacuzzi or whirlpool. A genuine in-room "hot tub" with full thermostat control is rare outside cabin-style resorts.

Every listing on this page specifies which type you'll find in the room. We list only properties with the tub in your room — not in a shared pool area or the lobby spa.

Why trust us

Hand-verified. No AI filler.

Every hotel on this page has been personally verified to have a private, in-room hot tub or jacuzzi — not a shared pool tub, not a bathroom soaker, not a spa amenity you have to book. We cross-check three sources for every listing: the hotel's own room photos and descriptions, recent guest reviews on TripAdvisor and Google, and direct confirmation from the hotel where unclear. We don't take payment for placement, and we don't generate listings with AI. If a hotel's tub status changes or a property closes, the page updates the next time we re-verify the city (Dothan was last checked May 2026).
