Trailborn Surf & Sound
"A 4.4-rated coastal boutique hotel with a pool, steps from Wrightsville Beach and Banks Channel."
About The Hotel
Trailborn Surf & Sound is a 4.4-rated coastal boutique on Waynick Boulevard between the Atlantic and the sound. The 264-guest reviews praise the clean rooms, friendly staff, and beach-town vibe. Many guests love the location — steps to the sand, the Loop trail at the door, and downtown Wilmington 15 minutes away. The pool and deck are popular in warm months; the island setting means no in-room jacuzzi, but the ocean and the pool are your soaks. Peak summer rates are higher and rooms book early; shoulder seasons (spring and fall) offer better value and quieter sand.
What Guests Are Saying
“This experience was WONDERFUL! I read some critical reviews so I was nervous, but everything about our stay was magical. The rooms were beautiful and smelled great, the pool was fun and lovely and we enjoyed the poolside bar for parents and kids, and the beach was gorgeous and not crowded at all, and I got a lot of value out of our chair and umbrella rental as well as the boogie board rental! The green areas really wear a nice touch. I took my son on a little flower walk around the grounds well my daughter laid in the hammock and my husband and other son played lawn games. Plus even the walk to the beach we were surrounded by beautiful purple flowers. It really was magical! The beds were SO comfy and to the folks who complained about having instant coffee, it’s really high quality and so so much better than most hotel coffee I’ve ever had. The staff are so helpful and warm. I really can’t say enough good things. In fact I’m dreading checking out today!” — Marpepp, 5 stars
“Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Trailborn. The beach was wonderful and very easy to walk to from the hotel. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet. We were there for freshmen orientation at UNCW which was a short drive away. We will stay there again when we visit Wilmington.” — Leland P., 5 stars
“We really enjoyed our time here. Rooms were clean and roomy and the AC worked well. All of the bar and kitchen staff were great considering how busy it was over July 4th. Valet staff were friendly and quick. A little in the expensive side, but well worth it considering the location and service.” — JayHTexas, 5 stars

What guests are saying about Trailborn Surf & Sound.
"Incredible customer service from the valet driver, front desk and restaurant staff. We loved celebrating our wedding night with Trailborn! There was the cutest cheese board and note left in our room that was a sweet touch. It was such a beautiful room to wake up to with the sound of the ocean. Thank you!"
