What Guests Are Saying
“My husband & I spent a few days in Winston-Salem & thoroughly enjoyed our accommodations at the Shaffner Inn. We chose the Piedmont Room, which is situated at the very top of this historic Inn. However, navigating the stairs was a good way to “walk” off the delicious breakfasts provided. Menu items included “build your own” omelets, sausage, bacon, fruit, juices, & coffee. The staff were most helpful & the owner shared some local history as he greeted us during breakfast. The venue hails from the early 1900’s, noted by the original brick and various fireplaces. Our room was very comfortable and extremely SPACIOUS (the room has its own thermostat & mini fridge). While in Winston-Salem, we toured both Reynolda (estate of R. J. Reynolds) and the village of Old Salem, a venue weaving the stories of the American South & the contributions of the Moravian, Black, and Indigenous peoples.” — ObservingLocalSpots, 5 stars
“On this visit to Winston-Salem, I decided to try a B&B rather than a major hotel chain. So glad I did! My husband and I stayed in the Piedmont which is the top level suite. So spacious! Sure it needs some updated touches here and there and he highway is quite loud, but I sleep with white noise app anyway. And old is part of his historical character. Beautiful home! Very clean, very serviceable and friendly staff. We enjoyed some great conversation with them, wine in the early evening hearing about the history of the home, and an absolutely delicious breakfast in the morning which was included as well. Try the smoke salmon Benedict!” — Vivian L., 5 stars

What guests are saying about The Shaffner Inn.
"Exactly as advertised, with all the old house charm, and at a great price. Staff were super helpful and available at the desk or via text for any questions. The house is situated right next to a busy highway, but a white noise machine was available in the room if I wanted to use it. Great location for walking to downtown Winston-Salem (~15 minute walk) or Old Salem (~20 minute walk). The breakfast was sublime, and I felt so fancy with the lovely china and sideboard buffet. Thanks for a great stay!"

Wachovia room was very pleasant, loved the tub, the room was clean and comfortable. We are STILL talking about how delicious the biscuit and gravy breakfast was! Definitely put this place high on your list for stays in Winston Salem!"

The other staff members were great as well, altho their names escape me, all very nice, and helpful. It's clean, charming and I can't wait to go back."
