“We booked a complete garbage hotel for 3 days and had to leave after 1st night. Went across the street and found this gem of a property, and they were kind enough to secure us a room that we could get into that morning at a rate (UNCW parents) that was similar to our first place. But Wingate was clearly head and shoulders nicer. Room layout with couch was great. Desk chair was comfortable (I had to work 1/2 day while there). Bathroom was clean and the supplied Dove products were a plus. Wall thermostat to control temperature worked well. And the workers were flat-out nice. Free bkfst was its own bonus—usually you don’t get cooked oatmeal, sausage and eggs with the usual fruit, cereal and yogurt. This place even had a “pancake machine” that I’d never seen before. The hotel does fill up—there were 2 different soccer teams there during our stay. But it fills up for a reason. We’ll be staying here again next time we come to visit our son.” — Michael C., 5 stars
