About The Hotel
The Hampton Inn & Suites Outer Banks/Corolla is a well-maintained 4.4-rated pool hotel on the northern Outer Banks. This is a reliable family property with an outdoor pool, oceanfront beach access via a short dune walk, free breakfast with hot items daily, and friendly, attentive staff. Rooms include standard hotel amenities—WiFi, fitness center, parking—and some offer partial or full ocean views. The location near the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and village shops makes it convenient for exploring, and the pet-friendly policy adds flexibility. This is a solid, well-reviewed northern-Outer Banks base, not an upscale resort, but clearly a guest favorite in the chain.
What Guests Are Saying
“We just got home from 5 nights at this hotel. I have never had such a flawless, relaxing vacation. Every single staff member we encountered was lovely. Without exception, they were helpful and friendly. Yvonne and Adam at the front desk were so gracious and offered expert local advice. I looked forward to bumping into Nessa and Maima from housekeeping each day in the halls. Those ladies were always smiling and having fun joking around with each other, and the happiness was contagious. Gloria was on top of EVERYTHING at breakfast every day, to the point where I had to double-check to make sure she was really just one person because she seemed to be everywhere all at once. I’ve never seen a Hampton Inn breakfast run so smoothly, and she did it all while being super friendly to everyone. The hotel location is PERFECT. You literally walk out of the lobby/breakfast area and follow a short path across the dunes. There are some stairs there, but they really aren’t too bad. It’s a little tough to get onto the first stair leading OFF the beach (because the sand is low there and the first step came up to about my knee) but if you have someone with you to offer a hand, or if you can grab onto the rail and jump up onto that step, you’ll be fine. The lifeguard is RIGHT THERE. I liked that. They give updates on a board to tell you what’s going on with the rip tides and the wind and the water temperature. You can rent chairs and umbrellas as soon as you get onto the beach, and you can charge them to the room. Chairs are either $10 or $20 (the cheaper one was very comfortable). I think it was about $40 for two chairs and an umbrella for the whole day. The beach is quiet and relaxing. No loud roads around. No garbage. Not really a “party” place…seemed more family friendly. We loved it. I found a bunch of pretty shells, shark teeth, and a few pieces of sea glass. There are also SO MANY Atlantic ghost crabs on the beach! They won’t bother you. As soon as you move, they disappear into their holes. We just loved watching them. We had room number 338. We should have booked sooner to get a true ocean front room, but we found out that the partial ocean view rooms are also very nice. You can EASILY see the ocean as long as you’re on the third floor. From our third floor partial ocean view room, we looked out onto the pool area and directly across to other rooms with balconies like ours. The hotel is kind of horseshoe shaped, with the ends toward the ocean. The FULL ocean view rooms are at those ends, facing the ocean but not overlooking the pool or other rooms. Anything below the third floor will have the ocean view obscured by the dunes. Looking around the hotel, I can’t imagine that any of the rooms would be “bad” — you can get first floor rooms with patios that lead directly out to the pool area, or out to a garden area in the front. And it’s a dog-friendly hotel (we had dogs staying in nearby rooms but we never heard a single bark). If I had one complaint, it would be that the air conditioning is an older system and very loud, both inside and on the balcony. But it kept up with the heat and humidity just fine. Really, I just can’t say enough about this hotel and the people who work there. Before we went home, we had already booked another stay for the fall.” — daynasu, 5 stars
“We found our firtst experience at the hotel to be perfect for our family and far more relaxing than Beach resorts like OC. Price wise it was what you would expect for an beach front hotel during the summer, especially one with daily breakfeast. The staff were kind and helpful and always wore a smile. The pools were never too crowded and the beach had enough room to spread out. It is very well set up for pets and it’s convenience store is priced well. It’s not a luxury hotel but it is a warm, welcoming, and well kept property. We’ll be back next summer for sure.” — Patty B., 5 stars
“For Hampton Inn, this must be one of the top in the chain. Not only is the setting beautiful and unusual, but the hotel itself was more upscale than you would expect. Beautiful, fresh, comfortable … the staff was wonderful, from housekeeping who were so cheerful to the front desk with Ellen and Sean. We absolutely will be back.” — ValerieinVB, 5 stars

"This was our 4th year visiting Corolla for our Wedding Anniversary since we got married there. We stayed here the second night of our trip and absolutely loved it. It was a beautiful, well kept hotel. Our room was clean and had such a fresh smell to it. The hot breakfast was wonderful, as well as the never ending supply of coffee (the way to my heart). Check in/check out process was awesome using the Hilton app. We never even had to go to the front desk. I also loved that the staff texts you after check in to make sure everything is ok with your room so far. The grounds were clean and the views were amazing. We will definitely be staying here again! Great stay for couples or families with children. Thank you for a wonderful experience."

View on Google"We loved the service: Maria at the front desk was friendly and went above and beyond in helping us (fantastic), Stephen as well and very polite, Gloria in breakfast serving also went above and beyond with great attention to details plus keeping things very clean and fresh food. They all made a difference! Lobby is so pretty and functional for ordering delivery and eating it there. The Jacuzzi was very clean and amazing every night! Nice outside space but weather was too cold. The location with beach on property was great. Very close to Wild Horses Adventure Tours (Hummer Tours)! Great location and great views from 3rd floor. We will recommend to others and will go back!"

Our room was nice and spacious. The breakfast was good. The staff was very friendly and the beach was close by. We even went to the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, which was a few miles down the road. We enjoyed shopping at the Super Wings store and eating pizza from Pizzazz Pizza in Corolla."
