About The Hotel

The Spa at Norwich Inn is a 3.9-rated property (808 reviews) on West Thames Street functioning as a destination spa resort. The headline draw is the on-site day spa offering custom massages, deep-tissue work, hot stones, and aromatherapy treatments repeatedly praised by guests. The property includes indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center, and aerobics classes on landscaped grounds. Rooms have home-style comforts, and the on-site Kensington’s restaurant serves breakfast including creme brulee French toast. Located 10 minutes from Mohegan Sun and 30 minutes from Mystic, the inn is a luxury-relaxation base. However, 2025-2026 reviews flag the property aging, with recent undisclosed renovations causing noise and disruption. The spa justifies the premium rate; rooms alone are considered overpriced.

What Guests Are Saying

“I went for the day with my adult daughters. Overall Norwich spa is our go-to place when we have the means to spend hundreds of dollars on a day of luxury. I got a custom massage from Tyson and it was excellent. It included lots of little luxuries like heated towels along with firm pressure, hot stones, aromatherapy, and focus on the trouble spots I wanted to address. Every staff member I interacted with the great. The women’s locker room could use a bit of TLC. The steam room was out of order (major bummer), and two shower stalls were out of order. The lockers are a drag because there are manual gears to turn. I can’t see the numbers without my glasses, so I could never lock my glasses in the locker. Also, they assigned the 3 of us lockers in a same corner. We were on top of each other and could not open our lockers at the same time. We had to take turns changing clothes. It think the relaxation room needs more spaces. It’s a bummer when you want to sit and read a book but it is full. There isn’t anyplace else to go. Also- I REALLY think there should be a clock in there. Its hard relax if you are wondering what time it is before your treatment. I don’t use my phone while I am there and I don’t wear a watch, so it is disconcerting. My biggest wish is that phones would be banned. I realize this is probably super difficult to enforce since many people use their phones for relaxing. But for me it is not really comfortable to be in the locker room changing out of a swimsuit or in the spa area in nothing but a robe while around by strangers holding cameras. I wish there were not so many extra fees, but I understand since you get a lovely experience there.” — Ann S., 5 stars

“Another wonderful stay when in Connecticut. Only stayed the one night, but this lovely inn is close to Mohegan Sun and 30 min from Mystic. The rooms at the inn have all the comforts of home with a bar and a restaurant. Breakfast at Kensingtons is a must as the creme brulee French toast is unbelievable. Place is immaculate, and the staff is friendly. Would like to stay a few days to see all of Mystic and to take advantage of the spa.” — Pnatale326, 5 stars

“It is overpriced in general but at the same time it is very nice. There is ample parking and nice facilities. Service options are nice and the quality was great. Food was great.” — Michelle, 4 stars

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Genuine destination spa—custom and deep-tissue massages repeatedly praised in 2025-2026 reviews

  • Go-to luxury-relaxation day-trip for repeat guests seeking spa treatments
  • Minutes from Mohegan Sun with airport transportation available

"Amazing day at the spa! They take excellent care of you, from the robes and slip ons to the quiet rooms, the service and care of the providers. I enjoyed everything except some younger"ladies" who decided to drink their alcohol in the jacuzzi while being very loud. Had an amazing CBD pedicure with Amy, facial with Wendy and a massage. I did not enjoy the juice bar, definitely overpriced and terrible taste( I had the parfait and the Beach Day). Kensington was a standout! The food is incredible and the service was spectacular. I purchased some products at the store & look forward to enjoying them( some masks and an orange/clove hydrating moiturizer)."

"100% worth the money and trip. This hotel met and exceeded all my expectations. The room was spacious, clean, and continuously stocked / cleaned by the staff. The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful. (I will say I wish there were more options on the menu and it was pretty pricey but that was expected). For the spa, there is a co-ed pool area, juice bar, and relaxation room where you can relax and take naps on comfy lounge couches with fluffy blankets. Then for the women’s area there is a hot tub, sauna, vanity area, locker rooms, and showers. As a hotel guest you can access the spa for free. You can also sign up for massages, facials, manicures/pedicures, etc (these are not included if you are a hotel guest, I will say they are really expensive, but a great way to pamper yourself). The service was amazing and the workers were very kind and attentive. I am so glad I stayed here it was such an amazing experience!"

"What a Beautiful traditional architecture to enjoy this amazing Spa! Stayed for 2 days of rest and relaxation! Loved the breakfast as always in my reviews! Wonderful service from start to finish. Right down to the umbrella's at the front door to use as we loaded our car to leave! The spa body wrap treatments are highly recommended! I wish the Spa hours could be extended til 730pm or 8 FYI. (currently closes @7pm)"
