About The Hotel

Avon Old Farms Hotel is a 3-star independent property on Avon Mountain Road serving the Farmington Valley for decades as a value base. The 3.6-rated hotel (508 reviews) offers a pool, free breakfast, fitness center, and wooded setting near the greenway. Recent guests praise efficient check-in and a comfortable lobby. However, multiple 2025-2026 reviews report dated, musty rooms with issues including mold, old carpet, and fixtures in need of renovation. Room quality varies widely—some guests received rooms matching online photos while others encountered significantly older spaces. The property suits budget-conscious travelers with realistic expectations about aging infrastructure.

What Guests Are Saying

“We had a funeral so booked last minute. Rooms shown online are very different from old room we occupied. Towels great! Black mold behind toliet! Disgusting! Heater so noisey. The bathroom and room need a complete makeover. Safe on top shelf of closet. Impossible to reach!! All other newer hotels were booked. The furniture in the reception area is so depressing, crowded and old and dark! So uninviting. Mold is in room 205!!” — Lynne S., 3 stars

“Anyone who says these rooms are nice is lying. Our room had damp old nasty carpet. There was an air freshener plugged into the wall that smelled awful. First time I’ve ever had an air freshener in a room. The bathroom fan was like a jet engine and covered in a layer of gray dust. The toilet seemed like it would overflow every time you flush it. And a tiny 30 something inch tv with just some basics cable stations. Honestly for the price that is insane. Buy some new TVs and get some Netflix. Remove the old nasty carpet and refresh the bathrooms. Honestly just do something if you are going to keep charging these prices. Who runs this place? Discussing room, with a room freshener covering up for god knows what and a TV from 30 years ago. Way to go team. Keep up the good work. Embarrassing.” — jlandry677, 1 star

“Despite the efficient check-in and comfortable looking lobby, the room was shockingly disappointing. We were checked in to a ground floor room in the wing of the hotel and it felt like an old motel. Upon opening the door, we were struck by the overwhelming musty/moldy(?) smell so my wife opened the door to try to air it out. When she tried to turn on the a/c there was no luck. I determined that we could not endure one night in this room, returned to the lobby and stated the condition was unacceptable. The front desk person offered to search for another room but we figured if they were willing to sign us in to the worst room we’ve been offered, we were better off to try another establishment! Gratefully, we received full credit. But I felt obligated to share our experience and would suggest LOOK ELSEWHERE.” — ncgrampy, 1 star

"I don’t typically leave reviews but I felt compelled to after a few little details charmed me enough into doing so. Truffle chocolates on the night stand, wine and cheese when I walked in, a grand piano in one of the lobby’s. Pretty much everything I needed after a day of traveling for work. I stay in hotels often, so sometimes it’s the little things that can set the experience apart, I appreciate that! Keep it up."
