“My wife and I spent the weekend in the Woodlands cottage at Winvian, and it was amazing! It’s hard to convey the uniqueness of the cottage itself, you can get a good sense from the pictures online, but on arrival we were blown away by how interesting, well appointed, warm, clean, and just amazing the cottage is. Lots of natural light, super comfortable bed, steam shower, a gas fire, surrounded by trees, it felt very private. My wife said it was the best room she has stayed in! In addition to the incredible accommodations, the food at the restaurants is also incredible. We ate dinner at Maggie’s Tavern on Friday, and the main restaurant on Saturday, and both meals were outstanding, and memorable. The complementary breakfasts are also outstanding, not your usual breakfast buffet, or even over-priced omelet at a luxury hotel. Finally, the service and staff are top shelf. We also ventured into the cute little town of Litchfield, which we enjoyed. One of the highlights of our trip was the private chef class. The spa was hands down the best we have ever been to. “We arrived at Winvian with all the daffodils blooming all over the property…just amazing and beautiful. We were greeted by staff in the Tavern and encouraged to pick a comfortable spot to sit. We sat by the fireplace and started with drinks and snacks (kettle cooked chips, mixed nuts, olives) were provided. We then went up to the restaurant for our “tasting”. To start off - the house is beautiful. Every room so tastefully decorated. We were greeted and sat at our table. A stool was brought for each of the ladies’ handbags. The staff was so incredibly attentive and extremely personable. We really enjoyed them. Chef Ryan was absolutely outstanding with all his tasting choices. Everything was just so exquisite, the food fabulous, so delicious and so beautifully well plated. It was one fantastic, incredible experience that will remain forever in our minds and taste buds.
