“Came with my husband to celebrate 22 years married and my husband’s 60th birthday. It was so lovely!! Room was great and beautiful! Always cleaned everyday by housekeeping. “This is a Victorian style house set back on a large property. There are two other buildings at the back of the main house. There is a lovely garden between the house and other buildings. GPS lists it as being in Essex so it was a little difficult to find. When I booked my room on the website, there was no mention of multiple buildings. I thought my room was in the main house. It was not. That was disappointing. The room I had was simple but very clean. It also had a very spacious bathroom. The biggest complaint I had was that the room description stated that there was a queen bed in the room. It was a full size bed and the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. For the prices they charge this should not have been an issue. Our two day stay included breakfast which was served is a lovely sunroom. The breakfast was adequate. My husband said the coffee was good That’s very important to him. Staff was polite and helpful. Although the inn was unique and very pretty I do not think I would return. “We were given a room that smelled musty. We thought it would be ok, just needed some air. But instead, by the morning, we were coughing, and many areas of the room we discovered had a smell that was so strong we had to remove our belongings immediately and ask for another room. The smell was like a bad basement, almost like urine. Our luggage even smelled from it. They offered another room which has a similar but lighter odor. Finally, they gave us a 2d floor. My partner slept on the floor since they had no rooms with two beds, even though we asked for two beds when we registered. They offered no compensation. We wanted to avoid a confrontation by asking after we left. I emailed and no reply. I called three times and was told that manager Chrystal will call me back right away. She never did. Carpet warn in places. Back deck needs a paint job. In clear view are the falling offer doors covering the garbage. Property needs some TLC.
