“Felt welcomed by check-in staff; “Maria” (and another) in housekeeping went an extra mile; restaurant’s food cooked-to-order & delivered fast, friendly; very clean room, no noticeable odors or scents; very comfortable beds & linens; pleasant lighting (no harsh glares); “Terry” at breakfast anticipated diners’ needs (mine and others). My constructive criticism: shower entry awkward (I found no way to turn on the shower without having to be standing under it—very unpleasant prior to adjusting the temp to feel the ice cold water and also potentially one could scald himself); the shower soap/shampoo are installed too high up on the wall, I’m not that short and had trouble reaching it; the sinks looked perfectly clean, but yet while using I detected the smell of mildew/mold radiating from either the drain or maybe from beneath its lip where it joins the counter (???) toilet flush should be much stronger I half expected it not to flush even though I just “lightly used” it (but it did flush). I didn’t notice any security cameras anywhere but decided maybe that’s a purposeful decision rather than an indication of lack of security (I’m aware that the rules of psychology indicate that visible security measures cause some people believe a place is inherently unsafe). “My wife and stayed 1 night as we went to a hockey game about 50 minutes away in Oswego where the hotel options are limited . The Syracuse Marriott was worth the drive. From the moment we arrived you can tell the staff is going the extra mile to make sure your stay is perfect. The hotel restaurant was excellent, really good Haddock with risotto and my wife had the grouper with polenta which was also really good. I noticed the prices at the restaurant were not crazy expensive like many hotels now are. Gustavof the bartender made a nice old fashioned with Basil Hayden! Carolyn who checked us in at the front desk was so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The hotel itself is very unique as it has kept many of the cool old fashioned details it has from the 1920’s. If you a Marriott member your status is really recognized here as well with an upgraded room and great breakfast, I’m platinum. Rooms are super cozy with unique doors and nice bathrooms. You know a hotel is trying to go above and beyond when you get a message from the GM the next day asking about your stay, little things make a difference. "During a career that has kept me on the road for decades as a touring musician, I have logged more hotel nights and endured more “continental breakfasts” than I care to count. Buffets blur together after a while. This one did not. And the reason is Madee. I was seated at the far table in the M-Club of the Syracuse Marriott Downtown when, precisely at 6:15 a.m., the door from the back of the house opened. Before a single chafing dish appeared, it was already clear that Madee was cut from superior cloth. Her uniform was immaculately pressed, her posture confident, her movements deliberate and economical. There was a quiet professionalism to the way she set the breakfast line, golden chafing dishes placed with a near ceremonial calm. No wasted motion. No noise. Just focus, grace, and purpose. It was the kind of work ethic you recognize immediately if you’ve spent a lifetime watching people either take pride in what they do or simply punch the clock. She was pleasant to look at, physically fit, composed, and radiating a confidence that came not from showmanship but from competence. When she approached my table at exactly the right moment, just as I was finishing my plate of sausage, scrambled eggs, and fingerling potatoes, she greeted me warmly and said, “Good morning, sir. We’d like to present you with this complimentary gift bag for the holidays.” It was a small gesture, but delivered with such sincerity and polish that it landed squarely where hospitality should. I was genuinely charmed. My eggs, which had cooled only because I was busy writing this very review, seemed to perk right back up in her presence. She asked what brought me to town, listened attentively, and when I told her I was a Syracuse native home for Christmas from Florida, she acknowledged it with warmth and ease. The conversation ended exactly as it should have, gracefully, without lingering, as she returned to her breakfast station. From my seat, I overheard her greeting other guests with a level of polish that far exceeded her youth. Every guest received the same respect and attentiveness. Hotels can be beautiful. Lounges can be exclusive. Food can be well prepared. But it is people like Madee who elevate a stay from comfortable to memorable. She represents the very best of hospitality: quiet excellence, genuine courtesy, and pride in one’s work. If Marriott is wise, they will take note. Madee is a credit not only to the M-Club, but to the entire profession."

View on Google"A throwback in time with a modern feel. Rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. The building, lobby, elevators, ballroom, and more were circa early 1900 but well restored. The staff (Gonzalo) were friendly and accommodating. We did call down to the front desk for something but it never arrived, that was a let duwn but no biggie. Convenient walk to the OnCenter but not much else around. Delicious food/bar options in the hotel. I don't suggest the 9th floor as you're just below the ballroom floor. 1-3 am tables and chairs being dragged as they cleaned up...wasn't fun."

View on Google"Stunning lobby and overall a beautiful hotel, carefully restored to it's glory days. Walking in the lobby is a real 'wow' moment similar to some of the best destination resorts we have stayed in. What a surprise to find this in Syracuse! We enjoyed the photo gallery of history about the building on the mezzanine. The room was comfortable and in good condition.Too bad the lobby cocktail bar was not open, but otherwise everything was great! Easy walk to lots of restaurants, great architecture and history, and the local theatres (which is what brought us to town). We enjoyed leaving our car and exploring the downtown, which is well kept, clean, and safe."
