About The Hotel

Belhurst Castle on West Lake Road is a 3.6-rated (1,377 reviews) historic Romanesque castle hotel on the Seneca lakeshore in Geneva, with an on-site winery, a spa offering massages and treatments, a fine-dining restaurant, and characterful rooms spread across the castle, the Vinifera Inn, and the Chambers building. It is a one-of-a-kind, grand wine-country landmark that offers a unique lakefront experience — guests praise the castle’s beauty, the winery, the spa amenities, and the spectacular lake views. However, the mixed ratings reflect feedback on older buildings, some dated rooms, and varying value perceptions, so read recent reviews before booking. A jetted-tub room is a specific room type to confirm at booking; the spa and lake views are the main relaxation features. It is a romantic, special-occasion stay for couples and wine travelers who prioritize character and uniqueness over modern consistency.

What Guests Are Saying

“This was our first time visiting Belhurst and we will definitely be returning. Such a beautiful, peaceful property. The view of the lake is gorgeous and the grounds are perfect for either quiet morning coffee or a mellow glass of wine later in the day. We stayed for four days and enjoyed both Edgar’s and Stonecutter’s, as well as the winery shop. Our dinner at Edgar’s stood out. Food was delicious and Josh and the other wait staff were excellent. We stayed in the original part of the castle in a vintage room which was clean and well-cared for. Belhurst made our trip to the Finger Lakes all the more satisfying.” — Cheese D., 5 stars

“Have been to the Stone Cutters restaurant many times, but I have never had 5 Star treatment until yesterday April 28. Rarely do you get that kind of treatment from a waiter. My guest and I were so impressed with Brandon. We wanted for nothing, he knew before hand what we needed, check on us frequently, never had to request a take out container, in fact he provided foil so my sandwich would not leak thru. He encouraged us to take our time and enjoy. So pleasant, fun and always a smile. Brandon is a keeper. Hopefully I’ll get him again.” — nANCY L., 5 stars

“Husband, friend and I stopped by as part of our now annual FLX trip. We had the Wine and Cheese and the Wine and Chocolate flights. Farrus (sp?) was our tasting associate. He was not only very knowledgeable and personable, but also very accommodating to our gluten-free friend. Truffles were substituted for her and care was put into the substitutions so that they would pair with the wine.” — BEGWIB, 5 stars

"My sister and I planned a winter winery adventure and stayed overnight at the castle. It is a lovely property and every staff member we encountered from the front desk to the wine tasting and gift shop to our dinner at the tavern was friendly, helpful and willing to answer any questions. We stayed in the only room with two queen beds and loved the fireplace and full lake view. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. To finish our stay we were pleasantly surprised by the continental breakfast. We will definitely be back!"

"I wanted to take a moment to rave about how wonderful our stay was at the Belhurst Castle. My parents, husband and I stayed in two rooms at the Vinifera Inn, and the rooms were large, immaculately clean, and overlooked the beautiful Seneca Lake. My mom and I had a massage and facial, respectively, which your staff was able to accommodate on short notice (due to the snow we got up there, we ended up being “snowed in” one afternoon/ night) and the services were fabulous. We also enjoyed some happy hour drinks and snacks, along with your wine tasting (and upgraded to the cheese and chocolate tasting which was so much fun) and enjoyed breakfast each morning. Staying at the Belhurst made us feel like kings and queens! It’s a beautiful property and we look forward to coming back another time (maybe in the spring/summer). Thank you for making our stay incredible!"
