East Hampton sits on the South Fork of Long Island along Route 27 (Montauk Highway) at the East End. The Long Island Rail Road and the Hampton Jitney serve the village; Islip (ISP) and JFK are about 1.5–2.5 hours west; most visitors drive in. A car is the way around the South Fork, the beaches, and the wineries, though the village is walkable. Route 27 connects East Hampton with Sag Harbor, Montauk, and the rest of the Hamptons and Long Island.
