About The Hotel

Riverdale Inn is a 4-star historic Riverside district B&B at 1521 Riverside Ave, five minutes west of downtown Jacksonville across the Fuller Warren Bridge. Rated 4.8 across 785 reviews with 4.8 cleanliness, 4.9 location, 4.7 rooms, 4.8 service, 4.8 sleep quality; value 4.6 is the softest signal. This is the marquee and highest-rated stay in the entire Jacksonville hot-tub-search cluster — an owner-operated inn where a 5-star guest wrote ‘The owner is so personable. He ensured we were able to have a quick breakfast so we could catch our flight’ and ‘Sooo accommodating. Allowed early check in, super dog friendly. Luxury bedding. Historic artsy neighborhood. Wonderful made to order breakfast was included. Friendly owners made this a wonderful stay.’ Another 5-star review is titled ‘Like you are in a movie’ — ‘You will never want to check out, trust me. Immaculately clean. Publix, salons and restaurants nearby. You will feel like you are in a dream. Eric is super accommodating. You will sleep perfectly in the cool and quiet.’ Amenities include free parking, EV charging, free WiFi, free made-to-order breakfast, pet-friendly rooms, newspapers and non-smoking hotel; TripAdvisor amenities do not list an in-room whirlpool — best treated as a top-rated B&B stay, not an in-room-jacuzzi property. Candid 3-star flag: ‘Our room A/C did not work so they let us stay in another room however in the middle of the night that A/C did not work. The bed mattress itself had its springs poking through and was old. Some of the blinds were broken’ — the staff got the ‘3-star best part’ credit despite the property issues. Best for couples and dog-owning boutique travelers wanting Jacksonville’s highest-rated historic-Riverside stay.

What Guests Are Saying

“Our stay at Riverdale Inn was amazing! Such a cozy, comfortable and welcoming vibe. A beautiful Victorian style home turned into a lovely Inn. Our room, Bishopgate, (on 3rd floor) was spacious, clean and our beds were comfortable. A quiet and comfortable stay. It’s located walking distance to an art museum, restaurants and shops-a real cute area. Breakfast was delicious-had the avocado toast (so good 🙌🏻) and the western omelet was amazing. My daughter had the pancakes and waffles and those were delicious, too. The owners/staff were so kind and accommodating. My husband wasn’t feeling well and didn’t join us for breakfast yet they still prepared a delicious plate to bring up for him. As well as amazing loose tea. Just a feeling of total care and kindness. We also enjoyed sitting out on the peaceful front porch and I loved the landing on the 2nd floor-such stunning architectural details. Loved it! My 12 year old daughter loved the Inn as well, a unique and historic stay! We were very pleased with the value and would happily stay at Riverdale Inn again.” — Sonia M., 5 stars

“The old house looks great from the outside. I wondered if it was so great from the inside. I wasn’t disappointed. The pictures don’t lie. As frequent travelers, we stay in hotels, etc a lot. One recurring theme is that not everything works. In the Riverdale Inn’s case, everything worked. All faucets, lights, toilets, fridge, microwave, remotes, TV, keys, locks, etc were all modern and robust. The inn is within walking distance to the river walk, restaurants, museums, and a historic park. We stayed in the carriage house and the noise level was low. Breakfast is served each morning. It’s not a motel-type buffet, but a chef prepared meal. Eggs, bacon, waffles, oatmeal, grits, and all freshly prepared. Coffee and juice as well. The staff is friendly and helpful. The cost is not much more than a standard motel room of a national chain, but well worth it.” — Daryl L., 5 stars

“One of the best experiences in Jacksonville! My husband and I had a blast in this Hotel. To bad we stayed for such a short period of time. The aera is beautifull, very calm, the room spacious, quiet, clean and very confortable! The breakfast a great surprise. I hab my best Avocado toast ever, and I’m 40 years old. Eric reception and hospitality was far beyond our expectations. We loved averything. We will certanly come back and defenitly stay longer. Thank you Riverdale Inn for making us feel at home! See you soon, Marcela & Gustavo Souza.” — Marcela F., 5 stars

"From making reservations to checking out and everything in between, the hospitality of Eric, Mikey, and Michelle at the Riverdale Inn was outstanding. My room was comfortable, quiet, with easily controllable a/c, and the walk-in shower was roomy with good water pressure and a nice large shower head. You can not go wrong with anything on the breakfast menu, it was all plentiful and delicious (esp pecan waffles!). Great tea and coffee too! The location is ideal and the other guests were also social/friendly. Thank you for a lovely stay, bravo!"

"My husband and I went to tea on Wednesday and had a lovely time. Our host was overly and fully explained how our team experience would proceed. We each had our own pot of the tea of our choosing. I always like when I can pick my tea. The food presentation was very nice and everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the chicken salad and the cucumber sandwiches. Our tea was interrupted by a leak in the ceiling. Water started dripping on our table from running down the wall that our table was against. I went and told our hostess and when we got back into the dining another leak started with water running our of a ceiling light. After suggesting she get a bucket or something to catch the water, which she did we were moved to another table and were able to finish our tea. The hostess and maintenance man were very apologetic and did not hurry us to leave. We were almost done so we left shortly after. Would highly recommend the tea experience here. Sometimes stuff just happens but it was handled well and we are eager to come back again"

"We were visiting family for several days in Jacksonville and found this B&B decorated beautifully for Christmas. The breakfast was very good and such a friendly atmosphere. We stayed in the carriage house, which was a nice room with a beautiful en suite, bathroom and enjoyed the convenient parking."
