What Guests Are Saying
“I never imagined this would be the hardest hotel review I would ever write. Our trip to Washington, DC, at the end of May and beginning of June 2026 turned out to be the last happy journey of my husband’s life, making this stay a memory I will treasure forever. We decided to travel to US only four days before our departure date from Egypt and booked the Royal Sonesta Dupont Circle which proved to be an excellent choice two days before our flight. We enjoyed our stay so much that we even discussed returning to this hotel in case we decided to revisit Washington, DC in the future. Public transportation like buses and metro station are in a walking distance zone. Pharmacy and supermarket are very close too. Several dining options are available in the neighborhood. Upon arrival , Keanu the Front Desk Officer warmly welcomed us and allocated a high floor room with excellent amenities. Then we explored the pool and fitness center where all facilities were available including towels and water. I would only suggest to keep pool warm or heated because that day the pool was really cold. I am grateful that we passed by upon arrival as I captured several wonderful videos of my husband enjoying the pool after long flights and practiced at the gym; those precious memories, I will cherish forever. The hotel’s décor is elegant, modern, and beautifully maintained, creating a fresh and welcoming atmosphere. During our stay, the hotel was undergoing renovation work in the reception area. Despite this, the construction never disrupted our experience, and the staff continued to provide outstanding service throughout our visit. The room was spacious, modern and comfortable, had all amenities and facilities. Thanks Martha our Housekeeping staff who did an excellent job every day, keeping our room clean and tidy and consistently restocking the coffee, tea, and milk capsules. My only suggestion would be to provide more toilet paper as backup. The only disappointing aspect of our stay was breakfast. We ordered two omelette dishes and croissant through room service, and unfortunately the croissant did not taste good. If I was not feeling lazy that morning, I would have preferred my usual morning walk to Le Pain Quotidien which is few minutes from the hotel to enjoy freshly baked pastries and coffee latte. Finally, my sincere thanks to the Front Office team Keanu, Ray and Elias, the door and bell staff who used to greet us everyday and Martha our Housekeeping member for their professionalism, kindness, and dedication to ensuring an exceptional guest experience. That trip to DC, our stay at Royal Sonesta hotel, and the entire experience became one of the most meaningful chapters of my life. I had the privilege of spending the last few happy days with my beloved late husband Dr Mahmoud El Shennawy before returning home in Egypt in such beautiful and welcoming surroundings, creating memories that I will cherish forever. Thank God.” — Dahlia E., 5 stars
“I had an absolutely wonderful experience at the Sonesta, and I can’t say enough great things about Bruce and the entire staff. From the moment I arrived, everyone made me feel genuinely welcome. The customer service was exceptional friendly, professional, and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. Bruce truly stands out as an incredible leader. His dedication to guest satisfaction is evident in the way he interacts with both guests and his team. You can tell he takes pride in creating a positive environment, and it shows throughout the entire hotel. The staff consistently greeted me with a smile, responded quickly to any questions, and made my stay comfortable and enjoyable. It’s rare to find a team that works together so seamlessly while making every guest feel valued. What guests are saying about The Royal Sonesta Washington DC Dupont Circle.
"Amazing stay and very good value. I was upgraded free due to platinum status to a deluxe suite and it was incredible for the price I paid. I stayed 8 days up to Christmas Eve, while in-between residences, so having the separate living/bedroom was very nice. Some of the carpets in the corridor could do with a good clean, and there are some marks and scuffs here and there, but fine for the price. The room well cleaned. A main factor in my choice to stay here, is that they have recently installed new smart tvs. This worked very well, and the hotel manager helped me setup my ps5 to the hotel WiFi. Only thing I’d note is the tv apps required login in every day, and the WiFi is generally not the best, even the premium option. The breakfast options are amazing and the service is impeccable. They remembered me everyday and knew my order from heart. Having it free as part of my status was even better. When entering and leaving the hotel, the front desk and door staff were very welcoming. Generally, all members of staff were very hospitable and friendly. The location is good, close to DuPont metro."

View on Google"Came for a weekend with my husband and our dogs. Big advice: if you don’t like dogs, do NOT stay here. But if you’re lucky enough to travel with your pets, this place is perfect. The front desk staff was extremely kind throughout our stay. They even offered complimentary bowls and dog beds for our pups, which was a very thoughtful touch. The only downside was the room size and noise level. The king room we booked looked much bigger in the photos, but in reality it was pretty small. Also, the rooms are not soundproof at all—you can hear everything. This is where my earlier advice comes in: a guest complained because my dogs were “too loud” (while playing, as dogs do, one single time and during daytime…sigh). Given that the hotel is very pet-friendly, better sound insulation would really help avoid issues like that. I was pleasantly surprised that there were no pet fees, and they didn’t require crates to leave the dogs in the room, which many hotels do. Valet parking was $72 (with taxes), which felt a bit expensive, but at least the car was safe. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and I’d definitely choose this hotel again whenever I come back to DC."

View on Google"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Royal Sonesta Washington DC – Dupont Circle Even in the middle of a major renovation, this property carries itself with grace and professionalism. Yes, the lobby and restaurant are currently under construction, with guests entering through temporary side doors and a provisional check-in area—but none of that takes away from the experience that truly matters. The room was very spacious, modern, and impeccably clean—quiet, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Exactly what you want after a long day in the city. What stood out most was the staff. From valet to front door, front desk, restaurant team, and housekeeping—everyone was warm, professional, and genuinely attentive. That level of hospitality isn’t staged; it’s culture. It’s clear this hotel is investing in its future, and if this is the experience during renovation, I can only imagine how impressive it will be once everything is complete in a few months. I’ll absolutely be back."
