“We stayed at The Jefferson in early July, timed around America’s 250th, and it was our first visit, and it’s now our favorite hotel in DC, ahead of the Conrad, Hay-Adams, Canopy, and Waldorf Astoria, all of which we’ve also stayed at. (The Conrad’s the outlier of that group anyway, tucked out by the convention center rather than centrally located like the rest.) Our Deluxe King room was quiet, comfortable, and clearly well-built; the walk-in shower alone, with real water pressure and a rain shower head, was a small luxury we didn’t expect. We’d mentioned it was a special occasion when booking, and arrived to find a thoughtful, unannounced treat waiting in the room. Bernadeth called ahead of our stay to ask about any requests, then handled our check-in herself and was fantastic throughout. Abdenour, the doorman, was attentive and professional every time we passed him, and Jennifer, the concierge, went out of her way to help with details big and small. We’d also requested a clothes steamer and tea kettle in advance; both were already in the room when we arrived. Quill, the hotel bar, became a daily habit, upscale but comfortable, with a wine list worth taking seriously and a crème brûlée that rivaled versions we’ve had in France. One evening a pianist named Mike was playing, which made an already good night better. Smaller touches added up too: help-yourself Southern-style iced tea in the lobby, a genuinely pleasant library with coffee and tea each morning, and bathrobes and slippers comfortable enough that we didn’t want to give them back. However, the carpet in our room showed some wear, and the AC, while it worked fine even through a record-breaking heat wave, could’ve had a bit more punch. Minor points against an otherwise excellent stay. It’s not a budget hotel, but between multi-night discounts and seasonal specials we noticed on their site, it’s a strong value relative to what you’re getting, and relative to the other hotels on our list above, it’s the one we’d go back to.” — Andrew S., 5 stars

From the moment you arrive on the property, you know you’re somewhere special. The valet team doesn’t simply take your car keys; they welcome you as if you’ve returned home. Both sets of brides and grooms genuinely felt at home, and within minutes of arriving, our guests were treated to a true VIP experience at one of the most refined luxury hotels in Washington, DC. Thanks to the impeccable customer service and attention to detail of Christopher, we experienced two nearly flawless event executions. One of our bridal clients went absolutely gaga over the custom-designed menus Christopher created by hand. Not only were they beautiful, but he went above and beyond by printing the invitations in-house, saving our client valuable time, money, and stress. It’s these seemingly small details that go a mile when you’re working with private event clients who are celebrating one of the most important days of their lives—and who have entrusted all of us to help bring their vision to life. The food was spectacular, and the kitchen and service teams were among the most polished we’ve encountered in the industry. They absolutely rocked the house! Finally, all of these wonderful moving parts and team collaborations were led by our longtime colleague, Golnaz, Director of Corporate and Social Events. “This is a family owned bouquet hotel that we enjoyed very much during our stay. It’s smaller, 99 rooms, has a great bar, 9 original signed documents from Thomas Jefferson, great restaurant, very personalized and professional service. Its very quiet and low key, classical and elegant decorations with modern amenities. It’s a great value compared to other “5” star hotels. This place is what we consider a true 5 star hotel. It’s a totally different experience than the other quote 5 star hotels in the area that are corporate owned with high employee turnover. This is family owned and many of the employees are long tenured employees who care and treat guests as family. The daily parking rate is about half as much as the other 5 star hotels in the city. If you’re looking for a louder electric bolder hotel full of pretentious, people and staff that don’t care then take this one off your list but if you want to be treated like family by a family owned five star hotel, then look no further than the Jefferson.
