What Guests Are Saying

“I chose Swann House for my 60th birthday celebration, and I truly could not have chosen a more special place. We essentially made Swann House our home for the weekend, with family and friends staying at the inn and gathering for an intimate reception and dinner. From the moment we arrived, the house felt elegant, warm, and incredibly welcoming. It has that rare combination of historic beauty and character without ever feeling stuffy or impersonal. The accommodations were fabulous. Our guests loved their rooms, the common spaces gave us wonderful places to gather, and waking up together the next morning and sharing breakfast was the perfect ending to the celebration. Breakfast, in particular, was excellent. What I will remember most is how beautifully Swann House allowed the weekend to unfold. We had cocktails, live jazz, dinner, speeches from my children, laughter, dancing, and so many little moments that I will treasure for the rest of my life. Having the entire experience in such an intimate setting made it feel less like an event at a venue and more like an extraordinary celebration in a beautiful private home. A special thank you to Christine, Sarah and everyone at Swann House who helped us along the way. Planning a milestone celebration from out of town involves a thousand little details, and I appreciated their help in bringing everything together. I spent a long time searching for the right place to celebrate turning 60, and Swann House turned out to be exactly what I had hoped for—beautiful, intimate, elegant, and memorable. My family is still talking about the weekend, and I know we will be for years to come. Thank you, Swann House, for being part of one of the happiest and most meaningful celebrations of my life. Five stars simply doesn’t feel like enough. :::” — Siggy R., 5 stars

“We absolutely loved our stay at Swann House for my husband’s birthday! From the moment we arrived, it felt like staying in the home of close friends or family. Our room was so cozy, the entire house was warm and inviting, and you can truly feel the love and care the owner has poured into this space. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home from start to finish. The homemade breakfast was absolutely delicious, and we really appreciated how accommodating they were with dietary restrictions. The pool is a peaceful little oasis, and we loved relaxing and playing cards in the beautiful common areas. The location couldn’t be better, its within walking distance of so many amazing restaurants and everything DC has to offer, making it the perfect staycation. We left already talking about when we can come back.” — Stephanie H., 5 stars

“I stayed at the Swann for 4 nights and found it absolutely delightful. The lounge and shared spaces are elegant, clean, refined and most of all quiet. The location is also in a good neighbourhood which I appreciated - getting out of downtown DC where I was working. I had three nights in Room 1 and one night in Room 3. I preferred the space and the cooling was adjustabke with a thermostat whereas I hate to say in the sweltering heat of DC I was cold in room 3 and couldnt adjust the cooling - but room 3 is a lovely well appointed quiet and comfortable room with little street noise at all. The breakfast was a lovely start to the day in the shared dining room and I enjoyed the little treats in the afternoon. Thankyou to Christine and Kyla” — BradandJanet, 5 stars

"What an absolute gem of an inn! More like a boutique hotel with its amenities and level of comfort, luxury details and interior design—Swann House is my new favorite place to stay in my frequent overnights in DC. Fantastic neighborhood to base yourself in, convenient and lovely. The rooms are all uniquely designed, and the common spaces are elegant and comfy. Coffee/tea stations on each floor and in room fridge with complimentary beverages. Should you need a glass of wine or cocktail, those are available for order. And while I couldn’t take advantage of it in January, there is a swimming pool and lovely terrace. The innkeeper, Christine, is wonderful as her assistant. And breakfast (included) was perfect!"

"We had a truly wonderful stay this past August. The property itself is beautiful – spacious, well-decorated, and carefully appointed throughout. The grounds are equally lovely, with a pool that made all the difference on a hot summer’s day. It’s also very well located, offering a calm haven while maintaining easy access to the City. But what really sets Swan House apart is the quality of the service. The new owner, Christine, has created an atmosphere that feels warm and welcoming, while still maintaining the polish of a high-end inn. There are thoughtful touches everywhere, from the intelligent design of the rooms to the delicious breakfast and drinks offering. She manages to strike the perfect balance between comfort and luxury, and it makes the whole experience stand out. I would strongly recommend Swann House to anyone looking for a memorable stay in D.C."

"Absolutely stellar experience! This posh inn has been lovingly curated to think of every detail and to delight all of the senses! We hope to make the Swann House our little home away from home anytime we visit DC. The linens are soft and immaculate, the ambience is elevated and cozy, and the breakfast is substantial and delicious! Thank you, Swann House team, for an incredible stay."
