The hotel was very clean, well maintained, and well staffed. “I checked into the Gold Leaf Hotel exactly at check-in time and I had to pee. I ran inside to check in, doing my best not to be doing the pee dance and failing. I signed my paperwork, got my key and ran upstairs to my room. I say all that to say I did not get the normal verbal breakdown of the property but I’m pretty sure it’s because I visibility had to pee. Other than that the staff at the front desk is super friendly and was able to check me in quickly. The room was large with a table and a small couch with a sitting area. I love that the fridge has a freezer attached. The gym and breakfast area was closed due to covid and the pool as well as sun area was under construction. Plenty of parking onsite with a covered garage that goes up as far as the hotel does which is 4 floors. Steps from the beach though it was a little too cold to go during my trip. Very dog friendly area. All in all a very nice hotel that was clean, larger than it looked, and in a great location with the fun Nalu Hawaiian Surf Bar & Grille being right across the street. “Second time staying at gold leaf and very pleased with this moderately priced hotel on beach block and directly across from Nalu and the live entertainment. Though i would say no frills each room had a fridge and coffee maker, tV, and blow dryer. The WiFi and Parking are both free which is a nice perk! The staff is very polite and allowed me to park vehicle in the garage until room was ready for checkin so we could enjoy the day at the beach. They called me on my cell when room was ready. I would say that customer service is well above average in these new travel times as is cleanliness. I noticed staff sweeping the floor& wiping down surface areas. “During the week day in the summer you can find good hotel deals. Our family stumbled across Gold Leaf on Dewey Beach! What a hidden jewel. What an awesome group of people running the place. They have no idea just how bad of a situation our family is in and they truly felt like old cousins. Great & immediate responses, clean hotel, awesome location where you can see Dewey beach from the window and a 10 second walk to the beach. It is right in the heart of the action surrounded by entertainment, food and more but also very quiet. "This well-situated hotel on the ocean block in Dewey has it all. Large, clean rooms (ours included a view of the sparkling bay across the highway) with every toiletry, including shower caps and washcloths (a washcloth is a must for me). The bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was quiet at night. The building includes a very large underground parking lot, which is truly rare in the beach towns, where street parking is at a premium. And the price at the Gold Leaf was very reasonable for a beautiful weekend in October (well under $200). I'm guessing this price goes way up in the summer, but for our purposes, this unfussy hotel was just right."

View on Google"Overall really liked the property! Great staff, kind, courteous, amenable to needs of guest! Like the convenience of pool & gym & free garage parking on property and that you can park on the level that your room is on. Beds were comfortable although too low to the floor for me. Room & bathrooms were clean! Only down side but not under property's control is people walking down the street at 2-3:00 am being loud, screaming or laughing that startled me awake several times. Maybe not so bad on higher floors. Had a great time, will definitely stay again!"

View on Google"Stayed here around christmas 2025 on a couples road trip from Virginia to see Schellville Christmas village. Most important thing I think I’ll add first since it makes me feel like a good samaritan is: if you’re a female traveler or anyone worried about safety, please keep in mind this hotel has multiple entrances but only the main entrance is watched over — the one right by our room we learned by saving a long walk to our car is actually not locked from the outside! Someone could walk in through the garage, then into the hotel without needing a key or key card. The amazing things about this hotel are that it’s literally a seconds-long walk to the beach on both sides, if you go on the off-season, there are plenty of rooms available, they allow dogs for an extra fee, the service is exceptional and they have a 24 hour concierge for whatever questions or issues you might have, free parking underneath the building, a personal heater so you can adjust the temperature to exactly how you want it in your room, a TV, and more. The downside is that because this is one of the cheapest hotels in the area, of course, a business to offer a lower price, they also have to make up for those costs elsewhere – some of the carpets in the public spaces are not clean or new, there is also a strong air freshener odor for the huge number they had in the halls."
