About The Hotel

Rates on request — a private log-cabin retreat near Smugglers’ Notch. Sterling Ridge Resort is a 4.8 cabin resort of cozy, fully equipped log cabins on a pondside property, with a pool, wood stoves, and exceptional owner-hosts. Best for couples and families wanting a private, self-catering log cabin with a wood stove and pond views, minutes from Smugglers’ Notch skiing. The remote setting on a quiet country road offers high-quality beds, impeccably maintained winter roads, and easy access to trails for snowshoeing and hiking. However, the property is remote and car-essential; you’ll cook or drive to the village for meals, and Route 108 over the Notch closes in winter, lengthening drives to Stowe.

What Guests Are Saying

“5 TRILLION STARS!!!!! Spectacular, bucolic cabin retreat amidst a beautiful and tranquil landscape. All modern amenities in cabin (appliances, laundry, etc.). Wood burning stove in living room a huge plus. Staff was courteous, professional and very helpful. Nestled at the end of a private road, this cabin does not disappoint. A very special place dripping with small town Vermont countryside charm. Comfortably slept 8 (4 couples). Beds are very high quality and very comfortable. It snowed multiple days we were there and the road was impeccably maintained with salt and sand. A little slice of heaven. The charm and coziness of this cabin is simply amazing. Smuggler’s Notch right down the road. The small town of Jeffersonville has many lovely restaurants. Hanley’s grocery store down the road has all the essentials. One of the best family trips we have ever experienced. A true gem. Cannot recommend highly enough.” — TheMultiverse, 5 stars

“Beautiful hideaway resort in the Vermont mountains. Large but cosy log cabins with all mod cons including wood for individual camp fires. Owners George and Barb Salg were the perfect hosts. The family also run a maple syrup business which was fascinating to visit.” — Jim G., 5 stars

“We always love coming to Sterling Ridge every winter with our dog. The cabin is cozy and quite and clean. They supply us with everything we need: utensils, fridge/freezer, microwave, stove and oven, hair dryer, soap and shampoo. There’s even a little shop on site to buy any goods you may have forgotten or may wish to purchase. Our cabin came with supplies for our dog as well including a bowl, poo bags, sheets and towels and a cover for the sofa. We were able to hit the trails and X-country ski and snow shoe right out our door. when we returned we could sit in front of our fireplace and warm up. The space heater provided in the closet was great to use to warm up the bathroom while taking a nice hot shower. Plenty of nice shops nearby and some good places to go and get dinner and a drink. For an upscale experience I would recommend going to Michael’s on the Hill and for a more casual experience I would recommend going to Martell’s at the Red Fox.” — Janice B., 5 stars

"We just returned from a perfectly perfect stay at the Roost at Sterling Ridge Resort. The home looked great in photos and yet the reality far exceeded out expectations! It's a beautiful home. It was immaculate and every detail well thought out. The kitchen was well equipped and a pleasure to cook in. We were a group of 6 and there was more than enough space to gather or to have quiet times alone simply enjoying the gorgeous views. Beds were comfortable and the linens were wonderful (I tend to be particular about that!). We borrowed snowshoes at the main office and had the pleasure of exploring the grounds which was a lot of fun. Also I would like to mention how professional and welcoming the staff was - from our first contact on booking and throughout our stay. We couldn't have had a better time and are already looking forward to another visit."

"Exactly as advertised. Cozy, quiet, comfortable, and affordable compared to other comparable places in the area. Closer to Smuggler's than to Stowe if that's a concern. Wood burning stove kept cabin nice n cozy at night. Nice walking trails around the lake as well. Barb was a great host and does a great job maintaining the office and property. I'd come back again for sure!"

"Reserved the cutest 1 bedroom cabin. It came with a jacuzzi tub and wood stove. Super cozy. Everything was clean and it felt like such a good deal for the one night stay: I wish we could have stayed longer. Front desk was friendly and welcomed us. Beautiful porch that I sipped my morning coffee on while watching the snow fall. We will be back next year!"
