What Guests Are Saying

“This was our second visit - our first was 23 years ago for our wedding ceremony (originally the Inn at Essex). The place has grown in many positive respects. Our suite was wonderful and comfortable in the manor house with all of the amenities that you would expect. Room included a full-stocked kitchen area with Keurig, microwave, dishes, silverware, and dishwasher. We loved the gas space heater (on a timer) which added to the charm along with a rocking chair. Room stayed cozy. Comfortable bed. Appreciated the “did you forget anything” sign, which the hotel provided complimentary items (including toothpaste, showercap, etc.). In many respects, we felt that this place provided old-time personal service that many newer hotels are lacking. No skimping on daily room cleaning, restocking supplies or providing fresh towels. Celebrating our anniversary, the staff was kind enough to provide not one, but two (!) days worth of champagne and treats (cheese/crackers/chocolate). I can’t express how nice the staff were - shout out to Olivia and the gentleman helping us at the front counter. We didn’t get to experience the spa or the pool, but the the Lazy Goat Tavern serves a wonderful breakfast. Love the waffles and eggs benedict. Thank you for making our anniversary special and memorable. We look forward to returning.” — gjspring, 5 stars

“Went there to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Lovely resort. Exceptional massages. Great learning experience at the culinary school where we took 2 classes with Donna. Delightful experience!” — Brenda H., 5 stars

"Whirlpool tub in our room was amazing! The spa and spa treatments were incredibly relaxing. Dinner at the Junction was to die for! Top notch service from Kimberly and sitting at the Chef’s Table made it a fun and extra special experience. The Lazy Goat Tavern was fun and delicious as always. "We had a quick but wonderful overnight stay at the Essex Resort & Spa on our way to ski some Northern Vermont resorts. The property is beautiful and the room we were in was large and spacious. It almost felt more like a studio suite then a double queen room. In any event we found our new go to spot up in the Burlington area. This establishment is definitely one of the nicest hotels to stay at in the state of Vermont. We highly recommend it here!"

"Stayed here for a wedding and was pleasantly surprised how fantastic and convenient this resort was. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food at the goat tavern was exceptional. I have never stayed at a hotel with such exquisite fare. If you stay definitely take advantage of the spa. I had a mani/pedi and it was lovely. Michelle, the nail technician that provided my service was extremely friendly. Would definitely recommend this venue for a wedding/party or a weekend getaway."
