About The Hotel

From $130/night, Black Mountain Inn is a family-owned 3.5-rated motel best for budget travelers, solo guests, and pet owners. The building is old—expect bouncy floors and dated fixtures—and one guest reported a smoke smell in a non-smoking room; inspect carefully on arrival. But the hosts are genuinely warm and hands-on, the rooms are large and often renovated, and you’ll find real character here. Free breakfast, free parking, and a pet-friendly policy round out the value proposition. A locals’ favorite when you get the right room.

What Guests Are Saying

“What a wonderful “find” in Brattleboro. Amidst the franchises that line Putney Road, this family-owned motel offers reasonable rates, quiet, clean, comfortable rooms, an outdoor pool, and even coffee and light breakfast treats in the lobby. And it’s pet-friendly. I’m only sorry I didn’t discover it years ago.” — Kay S., 5 stars

“Very home style feeling. The family is involved in daily operations. Javier was so welcoming and his mother in law was so friendly. I felt safe as a solo traveler. Room felt like a private cabin. It was a very nice experience.” — Karen T., 5 stars

“This is a really nice place to stay in Brattleboro. Room was large and very clean, the bathroom was a little old but very clean and good water pressure (important to me). Its on the main road but back a little so I really didn’t hear traffic. The young man at the desk when I checked in was very friendly and his grandmother is a lovely woman, we had a very nice talk. They have a grab and go breakfast, yogurt, fruit, juice, coffee and more.” — cccofnj, 5 stars

"I love quirky hotels and this one is one for the books. The staff/owners are super friendly and really love what they do. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and it was great. The location was perfect for us as we were hauling a 53’ trailer. The ample parking was perfect. Lots of fast food choices near by in an easy walking distance."

"My wife and I was looking for a clean and a modest priced motel for one night. We found that here. Monica and her mother Tina were very courteous and friendly. The room was decorated moderately, clean, comfortable with many amenities. If we ever decide to return to Brattleboro we will stay here."
