Sugar Hill Inn

"My wife and I decided to get away for a night for the first time in over 10 years, and we chose the Sugar Hill Inn because we were craving mountain views, crisp air, and some peace and quiet—a stark contrast to our day-to-day life in Connecticut. From the moment we arrived, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The common areas were exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated for the holidays, with fireplaces lit and Christmas music playing, which immediately set the tone for a relaxing stay. We happened to book our visit shortly after the area received a snowstorm. As a result, the town was working on power lines and we lost power in our room for a few hours. The storm also temporarily affected the water pressure one evening, and the jets in the bathtub were not functioning. Once we brought this to the owner’s attention, he was apologetic and accommodating. As a business owner myself, I understand that if you don’t know something is wrong, you can’t fix it. Things like this happen, and without us asking for a discount or refund, he kindly offered us a gift certificate, which we truly appreciated. Despite the weather-related hiccups, the room itself was very clean, cozy, and warm, with a beautiful rustic feel. Breakfast was phenomenal, and both the tavern and dining area were fantastic. The owner was genuinely friendly and clearly committed to providing a great experience for reasonable guests. My wife and I absolutely plan to return—perhaps staying in one of the cottages or visiting during a different season to experience everything the Inn has to offer. Highly recommended if you’re looking to truly unplug and enjoy a peaceful weekend getaway."

"We visited the Sugar Hill Inn in late October and our experience was positive in every way. The reservation-making process was easy, so that was a good early sign. When we arrived, we were greeted by one of the friendly owners who showed us around the main building, offered us fresh-baked cookies, walked us over to our room, and demonstrated/showed how everything worked. We stayed in the Forest View Cottage which was a beautiful room - quite spacious and elegant with handsome decor. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. Everything on the menu looked fantastic so we had difficult choices to make. There were several other guests dining at the time in the comfortable and stately dining area. In every way, this is exactly what you would expect from a super-nice B&B! There's more! A couple days later, we discovered that we'd lost a pair of shoes somewhere. We contacted the Sugar Hill Inn to see if we'd left them there. They responded quickly to confirm that they had found the missing shoes, and they initiated the process of shipping them to us, in a very convenient and professional way. This level of courtesy is very impressive!"

"We stayed at the inn for two nights in late October. Inn is cozy, very comfortable, and romantic. Especially cozy were the reception sitting area and the bar - both with warming fireplace. Excellent and friendly staff. Great breakfasts and gourmet dinners - with a somewhat limited menu. We stayed in the Bickford room - although roomy and adequately furnished - it could use a major upgrading/improving. The tv is small and far from the bed - making it difficult to see. The wall-mounted lights at bedside do not provide near enough proper lighting for ready. The recessed ceiling light over the bed does not work. And, the large space between the tv/dresser and the bed could use a carpet to add more ambience. Overall, we had a great experience staying at the inn - notwithstanding the minor flaws in our bedroom. We’ll come again - but we chose a different room from the Bickford Room."
