What Guests Are Saying

“My friend and I visited Maine/Bar Harbor for the first time and our stay at the Clefstone was such a highlight. Before I even arrived Steffan was such a help when I called before check in and set such a good tone for the trip. There we were met such beautiful decor and amazing hospitality. We chose room 8 with the stunning Samurai wallpaper and we were so pleased with our choice. The room was clean and smelled fresh and I enjoyed the local soap provided. The location is perfect never too far from anything we ventured out to do which is always a plus. The breakfast every morning exceeded our expectations and I could not be more happy with the chefs Martha and Alondra. Erin and Jill were always so eager to chat and make our stay more comfortable. Jill was also sweet enough to mail out postcards for me! Steffan who held great conversations and gave me some of the blueberry coffee they serve to take home! You will have such a relaxing time at this inn and the price is well worth it. Everything was perfect we loved it!” — Naja W., 5 stars

"This inn was a dream! So beautiful inside and out, same with the staff. The home is historical so taking that into account when setting room expectations is important but it adds to the charm. With updated furnishings the place is cozy and welcoming. Our room was a little drafty but the heaters did a great job and they thought of everything with doors to close off the sunroom to prevent drafts and curtains to allow us to sleep in. The food was probably better than any local restaurants! It was so nice to just go outside our door to breakfast each morning and not have to find where to go. They offer sweet or savory options for breakfast that were delicious (stuffed blueberry French toast, banana foster pancakes, Nantucket pie, egg casseroles with fresh fruit and meat). Can’t forget afternoon tea with snacks/baked goods and drinks available! So much food! It’s close to downtown bar harbor and Acadia (walking distance). We really enjoyed riding e bikes on the carriage roads. Would definitely come back and definitely recommend to anyone! I was hesitant about a bnb type of place but it was better than I could have imagined!"

"The B&B is cozy and beautiful, with a perfect location right outside the entrace to Acadia. The whole building is freshly renovated, but still has lots of rustic charm. Our room was gorgeous and clean. Everything is maintained with attention to detail. Breakfast was perfect every day, and there's always coffee/homemade treats available through the afternoon. Can't say enough how kind, helpful and accommodating all the staff are. Cleftstone made our stay in Acadia/Bar Harbor a really special experience."

"We had a most wonderful time at the Cleftstone Inn! It was our first trip to Bar Harbor and also our first bed and breakfast experience and I was blown away. The rooms we beautifully decorated and the breakfast each morning the excellent and kept us full enough to hike several miles each day. The staff was friendly and kind, but not overbearing. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a beautiful, quiet, relaxing escape."
