Chiltern Inn
"Intimate 3.8-rated B&B with beautiful jacuzzi suites, indoor pool, and home-theater, but book with eyes open on service consistency."
About The Hotel
From $374/night, Chiltern Inn offers premium pricing for an intimate B&B with jacuzzi suites and romantic décor, but the 3.8 rating (lowest in town) across ~76 reviews reflects mixed recent experiences. The property shines in its beautiful rooms and intimate atmosphere, with made-to-order breakfasts, evening wine and cheese, and a home-theater room that appeal to couples seeking romance. However, inconsistent service, reports of pool/spa not always operational, and a contactless host model have frustrated some guests. The separate Abbott Suite excludes breakfast and housekeeping. Book with clear eyes and contact the inn directly to confirm current operations and service before committing.
What Guests Are Saying
“Recently visited the Chiltern Inn for my boyfriend’s birthday and we had an excellent stay and will be back. The guest room including a spacious bathroom, jacuzzi and reading nook was absolutely beautiful and felt like an escape to the past. We appreciate our hosts Dan and Joan for their personable hospitality and providing warm amenities (such as a spectacular homemade omelet for breakfast) and assisting us with any questions about the reason for our visit, the hiking at Acadia National Park. We received great advice and directions. Thank you again!” — Tour38747928428, 5 stars
“We stayed for two nights in the Strawberry Hill Room. The pictures on the bnb’s website are accurate- it was a cozy room with a king bed, a large bathroom and jacuzzi tub. The innkeepers ensured that our contactless check in/check out process during covid-19 times was seamless. The bnb is located within walking distance from the shops and restaurants of downtown Bar Harbor, which we appreciated. The bnb is also located near the entrance point of Acadia National Park. The stay here is very pleasant, and we would definitely come back!” — brennyOh, 4 stars
“Had a lovely stay in this gorgeous home. Beautiful art work and decor gave the home a luxurious feel everywhere. Dan and Joan are great hosts and made us feel welcome at all times. Dan had so much local knowledge and great tips on places to visit. Joan’s breakfasts were excellent and set on antique china. Loved the home theater and indoor pool. Highly recommend if you are looking for a special romantic plato stay!! 5 stars definite!” — Lois096, 5 stars

What guests are saying about Chiltern Inn.
"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Chiltern Inn! The room was cozy and right off the main sitting room of the house where we were able to sip wine and read/browse the extensive collection of Acadia guides and info books. Our hosts each have their own specialties: Joan makes a delicious breakfast for her guests. Meanwhile, Dan is the ultimate concierge, with the best recommendations for hiking spots and local activities. His advice really helped us plan our days for the best use of our time! We highly recommend staying at this comfy family inn on its quiet street near an entrance to Acadia."

We were treated to his musical stylings nightly with wine and cheese. Joan makes the most amazing breakfasts to start your day. This place feels like staying with family! We highly recommend! The proprietors, Dan and Joan, made our trip even better with their attentive service and knowledge of the area. Rooms are private with shared common areas for swapping tips with other guests in the mornings and evenings. A very comfortable bed and a luxurious bathroom were highlights of our room. Highly recommend a stay here."
