About The Hotel

Rates on request at this marquee oceanfront resort, Bar Harbor Inn is the flagship property and a favorite of travelers seeking full-service waterfront accommodations steps from downtown. The exceptional 4.7 rating across 3,600+ reviews reflects its prime location on the Shore Path and comprehensive amenities: spa, heated pool, fitness center, and an on-site hot tub for post-hike soaks. Guests consistently praise the clean, cozy oceanfront rooms with views, warm service, and generous included breakfast. The property is large and busy—less intimate than smaller B&Bs—and room category significantly affects which views you actually get; high-season rates run steep, but many judge the oceanfront setting worth the splurge.

What Guests Are Saying

“My family of 4 enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect. Continental breakfast was very good. Hot tub was nice to use after a day of hiking. The oasis lounge was a good way to finish the evening. I highly recommend this hotel.” — Jason N., 5 stars

“The property was beautiful and very clean. Team members were all so pleasant and engaged in making sure everything was going well We didn’t realize the continental breakfast was included so that was a wonderful surprise. It had so many options and was very well organized. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside by the pool enjoying our breakfast We chose one of the upper rooms in the Oceanfront Lodge and our balcony was perfect. Felt very peaceful and private . We forgot about afternoon cookies in the lobby ….waaahhhh. Our fault !! We loved our time at Bar Harbor Inn” — Kathy, 5 stars

"I've photographed a number of weddings at Bar Harbor Inn, and no matter rain or shine it is such a lovely spot to host a wedding! The property is photogenic and overlooks the ocean, and their gardens are lush and blooming no matter the season. There are two different rooms to hose a wedding- the Porcupine room, which is perfect for intimate weddings and has a balcony, and the Reading Room, which is available on weekends for larger weddings. Acadia is close by if you'd like to have your ceremony in the park, or take couples portraits, and it's right in the heart of downtown, making it such an easy location for guests. And, the food is delicious! ig @katecrabtreephoto"

"Fabulous. This hotel is amazing. We had a seafront room with a balcony and the location was perfect. The sunrise over Frenchman's bay and the Atlantic Ocean was incredible. I'd like to mention Jermel on reception who made us feel very welcome and explained everything we needed to know. Outdoor pool was closed for the season 🥶 but the outdoor hot tubs were open and amazing. Breakfast was very good, free parking, and a very well kept hotel and grounds. This hotel is definitely not to be missed"

"I stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn and Spa for a girls’ weekend trip. Initially, I was concerned that the price per night was high. Once we arrived I was pleasantly surprised and realized we booked the best place in Bar Harbor. We had a room with an ocean view balcony. The service was exceptional. Omario, Errol, Patroi, Patricia and the people who cleaned our room went above and beyond. The gentleman at the front would save cookies for us every night . ( Yes, daily free freshly made cookies, free coffee, free blueberry lemonade and all day blueberry tea, free night-time, fire- pit smorees, and free continental breakfast). Patricia made a special pastry for us , after the initial serving was finished. The infinite pool, hot tubs are so refreshing after long mountain hikes. After our stay, I believe our rooms were well worth the cost because of the things I mentioned above. In addition, I do think the rooms could use an update and the carpet should be changed to vinyl, laminate or tile faux wood."
