The Whittaker Inn
"A perfect 5.0-rated family-owned boutique inn a short drive north of the Purdue campus."
About The Hotel
The Whittaker Inn is a 5.0-rated (355 reviews) family-owned boutique inn at 702 W 500 North in West Lafayette, a short drive north of the Purdue University campus. Run by Elizabeth and Andrew, it holds a straight 5.0 across every subrating category (5.0 cleanliness, 5.0 rooms, 5.0 service, 5.0 sleep quality, 5.0 value) with 4.9 location — one of the highest-rated stays in all of Indiana. Rooms are individually themed after different parts of the world (Canada Room among them), the breakfast is homemade and elaborate (one guest called out bread pudding worth returning for), and the property includes a patio, board games, gathering areas, cushioned patio chairs, a fitness center and kids-stay-free family rooms. Elizabeth’s attention to detail is a repeated theme in reviews — one guest anchored a 33-person retirement party on-site with staff arranging heavy appetizers and drinks, and multiple guests describe an atmosphere more European boutique than Central Indiana. Not a marketed in-room jacuzzi property, but a character-and-hospitality marquee for Purdue-parent, Boilermaker-weekend and anniversary visitors.
What Guests Are Saying
“My family of 16 recently stayed in five rooms of this enchanting hotel. Additionally the Whittaker Inn arranged my retirement party during our stay where 33 guests attended for the celebration, heavy appetizers and drinks. Elizabeth and Andrew and their dedicated staff did an amazing job accommodating our families and the party was a huge success. The grounds are beautiful and spacious, the rooms are gorgeous and well appointed, and the breakfast was expansive and delicious. Our families enjoyed the comfortable gathering areas which were arranged for guests to relax and visit, and we found these spacious areas to be very inviting and enjoyable. Several in our party played games available and tossed around a football and enjoyed sitting on the porch. Two of the rooms we stayed in on the first floor had a patio attached with table and chairs and cushioned patio chairs and our families loved this and how expansive the rooms felt. Elizabeth is remarkable, paying attention to every detail. I first contacted the Whittaker Inn months in advance of my retirement party and Elizabeth provided prompt responses, insightful suggestions, and worked diligently to make the party such a memorable event. Our guests consistently commented on how delicious the food and drinks were and how much they enjoyed the party. Thank you Elizabeth, Andrew and the staff of the Whittaker Inn for this very special weekend for me and my family!” — Kelly G., 5 stars
“If you are going to West Lafayette for ANYTHING, you must stay at The Whittaker Inn. This boutique hotel experience was honestly a surprise in Central Indiana and something I am much more likely to experience in Europe. The details were elegant, the attention from the staff was just right, and the breakfast was out of this world. Every room is tastefully decorated to represent a different part of the world. We were assigned the Canada Room, and it was perfect for our needs. It was at the end of a hallway on the second floor, super quiet, and had an abundance of windows. I have never had bread pudding for breakfast, and I think I’ll have to come back to TWI just to have it again!” — Mehul, 5 stars
“I really enjoyed my stay at the Whittaker. What I liked the most was how warm and welcoming everything felt from the moment I arrived. The room was cozy, clean, and beautifully decorated, making it feel like a home away from home. The breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious, with homemade touches that made it extra special. I also appreciated how friendly and helpful the hosts were—they went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. The peaceful atmosphere and personal attention made this stay much more relaxing and memorable than a typical hotel experience. A+ all the way. Stay here if you can get a reservation. WONDERFUL!” — fpetrus2026, 5 stars

It was too cold outside but there was a nice patio with chairs and woods to relax by. The included breakfast is amazing! We will be back!"

View on Google"We have stayed at The Whittaker Inn two times now and each visit has been terrific. It’s got a real “home away from home” feel with super nice staff (Elizabeth & Andrew-owners, Elizabeth’s folks and all other staff we have interacted with). The tucked away location is great for us in West Lafayette as it is quiet yet close to where my mom lives so makes our visits super convenient. It’s also only minutes away from loads of shops, restaurants, Purdue campus, grocery stores and gas stations. The room we stayed in each time was spacious, clean and offered hard surface flooring and an area rug, in-room safe and built in closet/drawer unit as well as comfortable side chairs and a coffee table. The tiled bathroom in each was modern and had a magnified make up mirror, large walk-in shower, sink with counter space on either side for toiletries, a hair dryer, complimentary “Bee Kind” bath products and large towel bar. Bath towels are oversized which is a nice touch. You are given breakfast menu cards when you arrive to fill out each evening with an extensive selection to choose from of food and beverages for the next morning’s breakfast - which is prepared fresh, hot and delicious and ready at the time you request on your card. There is plenty of parking but no elevators so keep that in mind if you book a second floor room. We have stayed in the Canada-themed room (2nd floor) and the France-themed room (1st floor). There is a small exercise room with a treadmill and a bicycle machine as well as a smart tv to watch while working out. They also serve dinner in their restaurant space a few nights each week. All and all a wonderful “homey” place to stay at very reasonable rates!"
