About The Hotel

Looking Glass Inn is a 4.1-rated (87 reviews) guesthouse at 1319 N New Jersey St in the Old Northside area — a small guesthouse with free breakfast, free parking and private check-in. The Rose Room bathroom has a soaking tub called ‘heavenly’ in a recent 5-star that named the inn a favorite place to stay in Indy — beautiful, quiet and clean. Owner Andy is repeatedly praised for his lovely breakfasts with fresh fruit and yogurt choice. Subratings run 4.3–4.5 across the board. One recent 2-star flagged a terribly loud AC generator and an ice-cold room — the trade-off of the historic guesthouse setting. A boutique B&B soaking-tub pick rather than a jetted-jacuzzi property.

What Guests Are Saying

“On a recent trip to Indianapolis for a family wedding, my husband and I opted to stay at this charming B&B and I am SO glad we did! DeWayne, the innkeeper, greeted us and treated us to a little tour before showing us our room. We stayed in the Hideaway, which is a huge attic apartment! We had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Breakfast was delivered promptly in an adorable basket at 8am, since they couldn’t do breakfast with Covid restrictions. Our room and the entire inn was spotless and tactful. The morning we departed, we asked if we could see Stone Soup Inn, their sister inn right behind Looking Glass. We definitely want to try this one next! DeWayne and the manager of Stone Soup were so gracious, kind, and welcoming. The neighborhood is clean, safe, and a wonderful place for a walk to enjoy downtown and it’s historic homes. I wish we could have stayed longer!!” — Melissa, 5 stars

“We were referred to the Inn by a major hotel chain when they were booked. We were in town for a concert, 4 adults and 1 kid. We stayed in the Hideway suite. Super cute, clean, and lots of room. Only one downside, bathroom door was a bifold and the knob only on outside. Made it hard to shut from inside. Maybe a knob could be added to the inside? Or some other way to make easily close the door. Check in was easy. Inn keeper super nice and helpful. Cookies and water available at check in. Continental breakfast was good. Hard boiled eggs, granola, bagels/muffins/toast, fresh fruit, Coffee/tea. Good variety. Very cute dinning area as well. Coffee/tea and micro popcorn to be made in our room. Would stay again if in the area.” — frag81, 5 stars

“We have stayed here several times and are never disappointed. Each room is unique and beautifully appointed and the Inn is within walking distance of downtown Indy. What a wonderful greeting we received from DeWayme—he made us feel so welcome. We were disappointed that there would not be a hot breakfast this time due to Covid but the beautiful basket of breakfast goodies delivered to our door definitely compensated. We had a delightful conversation with Jody upon our departure as well. DeWayne and Jody certainly seem to have the personalities to make guests feel welcome and at home. We will most definitely return!” — Tanya A., 5 stars

"This was my husband and my 4th time staying at the Looking Glass Inn over the last five years. It's magical- our favorite place to stay in Indy! Each time we visit, the hosts are kind and welcoming. The Inn is beautifully decorated and well kept with historical pieces and photos. We have stayed in 3 different rooms, each of them has been clean & so cozy. The beds are comfortable & the jacuzzi tub is a great feature. Towels, linens and toiletries are always stocked along with complimentary coffee, ice machine, and snacks always available just down the hallway. I even love the staircase, the furniture, the giant mirror in the hallway- all beautiful as ever. The breakfast is my personal favorite part of our stay each time: Fresh coffee, juices, bagels, fruit, cereal and more offered around dining room tables, bringing a sense of home. The location feels safe and secure and always seems close to everything we visit! Check in & check out is seamless. Thank you! ✨️"

"I absolutely loved this place! I was truly impressed with the amenities such as a ice machine that also dispensed water (so I could fill my water bottle), really nice grounds to hang out on and a nice breakfast selection. Everything was extremely clean and in great shape and the bed was very comfortable. It has all of the charm of a historic building while also being modern in the appropriate ways (such as wifi and a TV!) I absolutely will stay here again when I'm in town - it was refreshing to stay somewhere that felt like it was taken care of by people who genuinely want their guests to feel welcome and happy."
