Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa

"We’ve stayed at the Moana Surfrider for 3 out of our 4 trips to Oahu in the past 3 years, & we love it! Feels like home to us. The staff is so sweet, we love the beach views & location, & there is nothing better than walking outside to the most gorgeous water & view of Diamond Head. You can feel the history of this building, without it feeling dated. Entering the grand lobby, chillaxing on their rocking chairs, & walking outside to the courtyard & gorgeous beach feels incredible every time. This trip we had a corner Historic Banyan ocean-view room & it was our favorite. As for some of the reviews, yes this side is smaller w/ small bathrooms, but it’s a tiny tradeoff to all The Moana has to offer, & as someone who lived in NYC for many years, I’m fine w/ smaller, for access to all. We also love the buffet breakfasts & even the bar food (*coconut tamarind chicken wings, poke, & edamame w/ garlic chili crunch on their pupu platter is delicious!), & we enjoyed their 5-course chef tasting menu at the restaurant in the evening (*see photos). This time we were there for NYE & walked into an awesome party that evening, then watched the fireworks which were set off right in front of us at the beach. Love & highly rec all!"

"Absolutely fantastic! From the moment we arrived to the property we were greeted by the Valet/bellman with a welcoming Aloha, the guys were so helpful, taking our luggage in for us. We were checked in by a very nice front desk person . We stayed 6 days and everyone from the pool attendant to the bartender and waiters were fantastic! The staff really made our stay unforgettable. The hotel itself is a beautiful property. Sitting right on the beach was amazing! The rooms are on the small side but we didn’t mind it too much, the beds are comfortable and very clean, housekeeping came in every day and cleaned up. There is a refrigerator in the room but no microwave , again no big deal for us . 10 out of 10 property !"

"Spent this past weekend at the Moana Surfrider, and it’s the kind of place that quietly wins you over. The newly renovated rooms feel fresh, bright, and spacious, with a modern touch that somehow still fits perfectly with the building’s timeless character. Nothing feels out of place—you can sense the history, but you’re wrapped in comfort. It’s timeless old-school charm. Walking through the lobby feels special every time. It’s elegant without being stiff, and during our stay the whole property had a festive, joyful energy. At night, the music drifts through the space like it belongs there …which it does. But the moment that sticks? Sitting in one of those old rocking chairs. You sit there thinking you’ll stay for five minutes, and next thing you know the sky’s changed colors twice. That’s the Moana. It doesn’t rush you. It lets you arrive."
