The Island Resort At Fort Walton Beach
"The 3.9 Miracle Strip beachfront resort with 4,653 reviews — 3.5 rooms and dated finish flagged."
About The Hotel
The Island Resort at Fort Walton Beach is a 3.9-rated (4,653 reviews) older Emerald Coast beachfront resort at 1500 Miracle Strip Pkwy SE on Okaloosa Island. Amenities include a pool, kids pool, beach access, entertainment staff, restaurant and bar. Subratings run 3.8 cleanliness, 4.6 location, 3.5 rooms, 4.0 service and 3.6 value across 4,653 reviews. CANDID FLAGS: recent 2-star reports of dated finish, a room in a building without an elevator forcing luggage up two flights, a disputed $250 smoking-sensor fee from a non-smoking guest at checkout, and towel-availability delays until after noon. A weakly-rated beachfront resort — the appeal is Okaloosa Island beach access at value pricing; the flags are honest.
What Guests Are Saying
“The resort was amazing. Good location. Yummy food. Fabulous amenities. Rooms were great too.” — Kathy H., 5 stars
“Awesome location by the beach and Boardwalk (shopping, restaurants, coffee shop, karaoke, fireworks, beach volleyball). Not having to drive anywhere was nice. The staff were friendly. The bartender Miguel was outstanding. Very friendly and most importantly he helped protect several young girls who were approached by an older man trying to get them to his room. When my young adult girls got away from him they saw him approach even younger girls. They asked Miguel for help and he got security and the manager. We will forever be grateful for Miguel. They said “Miguel made them feel safe”. Thank you!!!!” — J B., 4 stars
“My stay was extremely disappointing from the moment I arrived. When I made my reservation, nowhere did it state that my room would be in a building without an elevator. As a result, I had to carry my luggage up two flights of stairs, which was both difficult and unacceptable. When I asked to be moved to a room in a building with an elevator, I was told I would have to pay an additional charge. The first night was a nightmare. The guests around me were yelling, screaming, and repeatedly slamming doors throughout the night. I called security three separate times before anyone finally responded. By then, my night was already ruined, and I got very little sleep. When I reported the issues to the front desk, the only resolution offered was a credit for one night’s resort fee. I again requested to be moved to a quieter room, but I was told that the only available option required me to pay more. Overall, the lack of transparency about the accommodations, poor response to excessive noise, and unwillingness to resolve the situation without charging me extra made this one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. I would not recommend staying here. One of their amenities listed is a workout room, which is about 5 to 7 minutes away from this particular hotel so it not convenient,so it shouldn’t be an amenity. For the last two or three days of our stay, beach towels were not available.” — A G., 2 stars

What guests are saying about The Island Resort At Fort Walton Beach.
"What an amazing resort! From the moment we arrived, the vibe and energy were incredible. The front desk staff handled the crowd efficiently — no waiting at all! The grounds are beautifully maintained and spotless. Walking through the courtyard to our room felt like stepping into a tropical island escape. The pool areas are fantastic, especially the back pool with waterfalls — it’s the perfect place to unwind while listening to the water. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. Beach access is super convenient, with a bar nearby for easy drink refills and chair/umbrella rentals right on the sand. The food was excellent — we ended up eating 90% of our meals on the property. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We highly recommend this resort and can’t wait to come back!"

That was very appreciated. We never ran out of towels and the trash was taken out. Location is wonderful close to food and attractions. Location is amazing there is a private beach out back. We also enjoyed the hot tub. It was comfortably hot in the chilly October mornings."

View on Google"Location is perfect. Lots of amenities. Right on beach. Everything you need is right on the property. Plenty of beach towels and nice places to sit. Live music at night. Food truck 🚚. Rooms are basically, but decent. Balcony was nice. Clean. You need to rent beach chairs and umbrellas ($50/day) or bring your own. Plenty of beach umbrellas and loungers by the pool. Cons: The margaritas are NOT good. Eww. Only one of the pools is heated. Book. The swim up bar had the pool with the freezing water. Most people put a toe in the water and ran away. They NEED to heat the pool!!! What a waste of a pool. Was excited for swim up bar, but not worth freezing to get a drink in the water. On Site Restaurant (Coastal Kitchen) has great dinner food, but slow service and expensive (salad is $14 extra). Website shows parking is free, but costs $15/night. Overall, would absolutely stay here again and plan on doing so soon! Buffet is not worth $25, and had to wait forever to get our bill. The establishment could use more staff in all areas."
