Capes Hotel
"4.1-rated oceanfront hotel on 20th Street with private balconies and a top-scoring central location."
About The Hotel
Capes Hotel is a 4.1-rated oceanfront hotel on Atlantic Avenue at 20th Street in the central Virginia Beach boardwalk, with private oceanfront balconies, an outdoor pool, an on-site restaurant, and one of the best location scores in the city (4.8). A well-priced oceanfront rather than an in-room-jacuzzi property — the soak here is by the pool, with the Atlantic on the balcony and the central boardwalk restaurants and shops out front. Rooms are consistently praised as clean and well-priced, and the smaller property size means a quieter feel than the big brand towers. Best for couples and families wanting a well-priced central-boardwalk oceanfront with a private balcony.
What Guests Are Saying
“Must give this hotel 5 stars! Oceanfront private balcony and room was immaculate! Ladies at the front desk went above and beyond! Even to calling me every time we had a door dash delivery to let us know they were coming up. Yes it’s an older hotel; yes the bathroom was very small; the furniture is older. Phone didn’t work right; but we all have cell phones now! Only 1 ice machine that is on the second floor; BUT what was important to us first was cleanliness; then oceanfront balcony; and a kind helpful staff. And a quiet safe place to stay. For the price please give them a try. If it’s new furniture; ice machine on each floor; bigger bathrooms by all means go ahead and pay 3x more per night. But again it’s whatever your preference is. We will go back!” — TDH, 5 stars
“We were recently traveling on a tour and spent 3 days at the Capes. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were extremely friendly and most helpful. It was plain to all, that we were valued customers and they truly appreciated us being there. Even the city employees were very friendly and outgoing. Lots to do in the area and the Capes is right on the boardwalk, just bring comfortable shoes!” — RickL4570, 5 stars
“We arrived late afternoon, the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. As a matter of fact, the staff was the best part of our stay. Our room was very clean, beds firm, and pillows comfy. We had a terrific time, the restaurant was tasty, and had great parking. The hotel is on 20th street, the middle of everything. This is where we will stay from now on.” — Quest22648673067, 5 stars

What guests are saying about Capes Hotel.
"Clean and cozy. The Capes Hotel is run by friendly helpful staff and has clean comfortable rooms. We have been around 3 or 4 times now and every time has been a delight. We get the jacuzzi tub room because it is so nice to have a big tub to relax in during the off season (we visit va beach a lot to see Navy family). The restaurant down stairs is run by lovely staff and has very good food. The crab omlette and crab eggs Benedict is very yummy! The blackened tuna is also excellent! While the restaurant is not part of the hotel stay and the hotel does not have breakfast or food accommodations it doesn't advertise as if it does have breakfast. I believe this is one of the best hotels to go to on the va beachfront if you're on a budget and not in need of fancy over the top accommodations."

Marisol, the housekeeper, had it cleaner than a boutique hotel! Lori was very helpful in making reservations! A true gem! Vicky made sure we were accommodated every night! Also, Crystal was always cleaning and giving us tips about the hotel in general! All in all, a surprise birthday trip surprised me also. If it’s out of season, definitely try this gem in VA Beach, during the summer it’ll be full and I just know it. 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!"

View on Google"Not fancy, not a dump...just a great little middle of the road kind of place to enjoy the vibe of VA Beach. The staff was super friendly, our room was clean, the shower pressure was perfect, beds were comfy. We were there after Labor Day, the crowds were down. The turnover this time of year is not so chaotic, so we were able to check in a little earlier than 4:00p and we were given a later checkout, at 11:30, instead of 11. The hotel does not have a restaurant, however, there is a small one attached that serves a nice breakfast and lunch, with easy prices! In the lobby, there is a cappuccino/espresso machine with several choices and flavors. Also, there's a filtered water station to fill/refill your bottle. The location is excellent if you like to be in the middle of everything Disliked · My pillows were "bouncy" I know pillows are a personal thing...they weren't horrible, but they didn't suit me. Of course, I made them work, but if you like squishy and flattish, these pillows don't squish and stay squished, they just pop right back into a bouncy state. *I never rate according to pillows, I just like to mention them because I know a lot of "pillow snobs"."
