"A 3.8 Holiday Inn Express at I-95 Exit 52 near Petersburg NB — read candid 1-star reports on housekeeping and hot tub before booking."
About The Hotel
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Petersburg-Fort Lee on South Crater Road at I-95 Exit 52 is Petersburg’s single hot-tub-search-relevant hotel — an IHG with pool, fitness center, free breakfast, pet-friendly rooms and business center. Subratings run 4.0–4.2. Strong candid honesty flags apply: one recent 1-star review reports urine-soaked bed and pubic hair on bedding (“summarizes our stay”); another reports hot tub cleanliness issues; the property charges $5/day for parking; one of two elevators reportedly regularly out of order; the property is described as an old hotel re-branded and cheaply renovated. Best only for I-95 value travelers who read recent 1-star reports before booking at $99 nightly.
What Guests Are Saying
“The hotel was very clean and the room was spacious. Staff at the front desk were welcoming and helpful when we had an issue with noisy guests in the room next to ours. We would definitely stay here again on a return trip. Easy access right off 95.” — NorthStar233079, 5 stars
“In reality reaching this chain of hotels is a guarantee that you know how they serve you, you know how the rooms are and even in the way they treat you. All very well and thank you for buying good quality hair dryers.” — ioram, 5 stars
“Our hotel room was a king bed suite equipped with a kitchenette, featuring a hot plate, sink, large fridge, and dishwasher. Although the pots were of poor quality, they served their purpose, and I had brought my own can opener as the one provided didn’t work. The room was clean and spacious, but it lacked sufficient lighting. Parking came with a $5 fee, which I found annoying as I prefer hotels to include such costs in the overall price. The standout aspect of our stay, however, was the exceptional staff. Everyone we interacted with, including Mighty Michelle, Bruiser Bruce, Alonzo, Kelsey, and Austin, was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our housekeeper was also lovely, although we didn’t catch her name. The standard Holiday Inn breakfast was a treat, especially the hot cinnamon buns, which Alonzo kindly provided.” — Duke M., 4 stars

Guest reviews
What guests are saying about Holiday Inn Express & Suites Petersburg.
"Rooms were spacious and clean. Our standard double queen had a small tiled kitchenette/entrance area with a coffee pod machine, microwave, and mini fridge, which was a really nice touch before the soft, carpeted sleeping area. The bathrooms stocked Dove products, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We stopped here for a place to sleep on our trip home from Florida and were pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, the room was spotless, and the beds were so cozy after a long day of travel. It was also convenient that they had a small selection of food available for purchase, we arrived just before midnight and didn’t feel like hunting for a restaurant. Breakfast the next morning was impressive as well, especially for an included hotel breakfast. Lots of great options to choose from. Some reviews mentioned safety concerns due to crime in the area, but during our stay, we didn’t feel unsafe at all. Overall, this was a great stop and we’d stay again."

Not sure of name but think she was checking on housekeeping. Give her a raise! Great attitude and personality! I can see why this hotel was rated higher than others in the area. Date of stay 12/29/25"
