About The Hotel
Norfolk Waterside Marriott is a 4.1-rated full-service Marriott on East Main Street in downtown Norfolk at the waterfront — a walk from the Waterside District, Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin. The top location score (4.6) reflects the address, and the property runs a pool, bar/lounge, patio, EV charging and kids-stay-free amenities. A brand Marriott rather than an in-room-jacuzzi property — the appeal is a walkable downtown-waterfront address with Marriott loyalty recognition. Reviewer praise centers on the front-desk and valet staff (Caroline, Joshua and the bell crew are named repeatedly); softer rooms (4.0) and value (4.0) scores reflect the downtown-Marriott rate environment.

“Joshua from the valet team truly made our experience exceptional. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, he greeted us with a genuine smile and a warm, welcoming attitude every time we saw him. His professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail never went unnoticed. It’s rare to find someone who consistently delivers outstanding customer service while making every guest feel valued and appreciated. Joshua represents your organization with excellence, and it’s clear he takes great pride in his work. Employees like him are the reason guests return and recommend your property to others. Thank you, Joshua, for making our stay even more enjoyable. He is a tremendous asset to your team, and I sincerely hope you recognize the positive impact he has on your guests. Keep him on your team—he’s one of the best.” — Arnika A., 5 stars
“We are attending a music conference at the Waterside Marriott in Norfolk, VA. From the valet service, when we arrived, to our front desk experience the staff has been very courteous and helpful. The valet reps particularly Kris, Jamar and Alex were on point finding me a cart to help unpack then, helped register our car. Kris went the extra mile, after our car was parked, and went back after I left a bag on the car floor in back. Airriana, at the front desk, was equally helpfu getting us checked in and has such a lovely disposition. You can tell that the staff takes pride in what they do here. I look forward to the remainder of our stay knowing these young people are on staff.” — Lisa J., 5 stars
“Caroline was the absolute best! She remembered my name each time I walked through the lobby. She also helped me fix a reservation and get me access to my room when I locked myself out. You’re in good hands with Caroline at the desk! Can’t wait to go back.” — Patrick E., 5 stars

What guests are saying about Norfolk Waterside Marriott.
"Clean rooms and is the typical setup. I went down to the restaurant and decided on the bar. Janelle was the bar tender. Drinks were good. Food is ok. Bang Bang Shrimp had too much sauce and was sloppily put on running all over the plate. Presentation means a lot the shrimp tasted greasy on precooked and cooked again. They were big shrimp just not cooked like I’ve seen bang bang shrimp cooked. The salsa was good. The cheesecake was ok. I LOVE the location! Two battle ships were across the pier and I wish I had more time b/c I would’ve taken the tour. Everything else was good and I want to come back to explore!"

View on Google"Spent the weekend here for a multi-day wedding. The staff was phenomenal and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. We had a lovely corner room with plenty of space, great lighting, and a very comfortable bed. The rooms were so quiet, we never heard any noise other than when our neighbors entered/exited their rooms. My only complaint is that the elevators were undergoing maintenance over the weekend, and we had to wait over 25 minutes to catch an elevator with enough room for the two of us to get on, causing us to be late to our event. We were quite busy with wedding events, so I can't speak to the walk-ability and location of the hotel, as we never really left the grounds until checkout. Overall, our stay was fantastic and we will definitely stay here again if we're ever in the area."
