Comfort Inn University Center
"3.7 Comfort Inn near George Mason — soft value with candid yellow-water and bug complaints."
About The Hotel
Comfort Inn University Center is a 3.7-rated (308 reviews) Comfort Inn on Fairfax Boulevard (US-50) near George Mason University. Amenities include a pool, free breakfast, game room, fitness center, business center and free parking. Subratings hold up at 4.0–4.2 (value 4.1, location 4.2, cleanliness 4.1), but recent reviews carry candid flags: yellow water in one stay, bug complaints, cold shower water, a leaky bathroom shower with water outside the pan, a burnt-hair smell from the heat, and a double-charging front-desk report. A value Comfort Inn where expectations should be set — book for the George Mason proximity and the rate, not for boutique condition.
What Guests Are Saying
“One of my favorite hotels to stay when I’m in the area. I’m a frequent business traveler with well over 100 nights a year in hotels for the past 10 years. I gave it 5 stars because the Management and staff has consistently meet my expectations. Hotel rooms are very clean, bed is comfortable, quiet rooms for a good night sleep, billing is always accurate, hotel rate is competitive for the area, ample parking, plenty of food options nearby, grocery stores and gas stations nearby. Fairfax County Park is next to it to get some exercise. Always felt safe at the hotel and surrounding areas when I go for walks or jogging . Over the past 10 years the hotel has been updated on a regular basis with new carpeting in the hallways and guest rooms , lobby was remodeled, guest rooms and hallways painted, new tv’s, refrigerators, microwaves and drapery in the guest rooms. Outside and entrance has always been very well maintained with well groomed landscaping, parking lot kept clean from litter and exterior lights maintained.” — MillerDarrin, 5 stars
“I have to start by saying we were touring D.C. and walked close to 14 miles both days we stayed at this location. We really were only here long enough to sleep. The bed was comfy and again after walking all day in D.C. it was exactly what was needed. The internet worked fine. The bathroom was clean, and the shower had hot water. The breakfast in the morning was excellent and gave us a good start to both of our days. Overall, I really didn’t have any major complaints about this location.” — Jason S., 4 stars
“Due to delay and a missed connection, United Airlines booked a room at this property, half an hour drive from the airport. Checked-in late and received a two double beds room on the third floor. The room was large but with tired looks and dirty carpets. The bathroom with bath was standard design but OK. The bed was relatively comfortable but the airco was so noisy that I had to turn it off to sleep. I went down to breakfast around 9.30am the next morning to find that breakfast was served from 6-9am, nobody told me that at check-in. As my flight was scheduled at 5.30pm, I asked for a 1.30-2.00pm check-out but was granted only 12.30pm although the hotel was clearly empty. There is a semi-outside pool but it was closed so there was nothing else I could do except to stay in my room and look at the tv…” — Olivier D., 3 stars
