What Guests Are Saying
“Very friendly and gave me a very warm welcome when I arrived. Wonderful place. Very clean place. I will definitely stay there again.” — Jenilu Z., 5 stars
“Property is dated, rooms show lack of care. Mattresses need to be turned or replaced, they are broken down. Elevator works properly but needs some cleaning. Parking is ample. Breakfast is routine, sausage is chicken sausage and overcooked.” — Warren B., 4 stars
“Overall a great place to recharge, the best perk is that everything is close by or a walking distance the pool and the Jacuzzi were phenomenal.” — BRuiz, 4 stars

What guests are saying about Wingate by Wyndham Chesapeake.
"This hotel deserves a 5+ star rating. Everything about it is geared toward providing a home away from home for its guests. The lobby is well-lit with swishing, automatic doors, and spacious with a welcoming seating area, a faux-fireplace, a TV that's always on. Several tables and chairs as well as sofas adorn a dining area where a hot breakfast is served every day from 6-9am. Scrambled eggs, sausage, bagels, bread, butter, jam, muffins, water, apple/orange/cranberry juice, with 24/7 coffee and tea are available. The best thing is that even if you don't wake up/too bleary-eyed at 9am, you can still trudge down by 9:30am or so and find something left over for you to warm up and sit and eat while watching the news. The rooms are spacious with multiple mirrors, a strong enough stream from the showerheads (important for travelers!), a small fridge and a microwave that does the job well. There is a desk and comfy office chair for you to work with a desk lamp that has USB ports handy for you to plug in. Wifi is good but I'll come to that in a second. There is a small sofachair and an ottoman to put up your tired feet while watching TV. There are several lamps around the room. There is also a low table/bench where we women can place our multiple totes, bags etc. The TV is on top of a mid-sized chest with drawers to stash your undies etc in. The AC/Heat works fairly well but you have to fiddle with it a little to match your body's own thermostat needs. The bed is just fantastic and I slept well every day. They told me they will be changing the bed for better, newer ones, but the one I had was a king bed that was firm and extremely comfy. I do wish there were more pillows provided (I had three) but the pillows were firm and soft at the same time. Nothing to really complain about. I love that I can see my parked car from my window and there's ample parking all around the hotel. There is an indoor swimming pool that's open from 1-10pm, a gym that's open from 5am-10pm. The 24/7 laundry let's you use your room key. The locale is safe and clean. Easy access to the highway and walkability score is great as the Wawa less than 1/3 mile away -- so you can get in your morning walk and coffee if you miss the hotel breakfast. But to be honest, the best thing about this hotel is the staff... the wonderful people who are always there, always polite, professional and above all considerate. I spent some time here during a difficult period of my life, and I felt taken care of in a way that made my life so much easier to bear during that time. When the internet proved iffy and I needed it to work, I called the front desk and Jillian lent me her phone and the hotspot on it... a life saver she was!! She always has a smile on her face... and makes it a point to make a fresh pot of coffee whenever it runs out. Tom Burns is a fantastic manager and made my life easier in ways I cannot describe. Vijay and Parth were just wonderful to talk to... caring and considerate... two young guys who took care of their "auntie" when she needed it most. Every morning, housekeeping knocked on my door and asked me if I needed anything with a welcoming smile on their faces. Words cannot fully describe how good it was to feel that my needs were important to them and that I deserved to be taken care of with a smile. There are many fancy hotels that have fancy things in them, but they don't feel like home. This one does. Kudos and bravo, Wingate at 817 Greenbriar in Chesapeake! I am putting this review up everywhere. Hope to see you all again soon. Take care."
