“If your not looking for Quaint, Quirky and old, this is not your place. It’s a Hilton by any means but it’s clean, quiet snd serves a purpose to relax, reconnect and get clean! We were visiting Hocking Hills area and this was 40 minutes to the park and about an hour to the north side of Columbus. We had a Jacuzzi tub and it works! If the pumps don’t turn on there is instruction to flip a breaker in the hall and it works! The place is a historic structure and a work in progress. We were on third floor and while the windows don’t open, there’s enough air flow and you could get out in an emergency! We did not have breakfast as we were out exploring already. The Inn Keeper does leave muffins, fruit and water out if you let her know your leaving early in the morning. All in all it was a quiet weekend and we enjoyed ourselves!” — jennifer, 4 stars

“We stayed in the round tower king room for two nights. It was built in 1895. We took a day trip during our stay to Hocking Hills State Park and the Hopewell Culture Mounds, both a 30-45 minute drive from the Inn. The room was very large and the bathroom as big as a bedroom. We were told it was the original master bedroom of the home. The floors and countertops in the bathroom were rose marble. A very lovely rain shower had been added to the bathroom. The room was clean and contained a fairly large refrigerator and a microwave. We felt there could have been a little more thought into the way the room was arranged. There was one tiny wastepaper basket in the bathroom and none in the bedroom. There was a bedside lamp on one side of the bed and not the other side. There was a place to hang up clothes, but no hangers. There was also visible water damage inside the north wall of the bathroom. The innkeepers, Trish and David, were kind. On the first day, Trish made a breakfast of frittata, hash browns and sausage. On the second day, there were pancakes, hash browns and bacon. There were also various fruit juices and bread for toasting. Fresh fruit would have been a nice touch. I am a tea drinker and there were herbal teas but no black teas, e.g., English Breakfast Tea or Earl Grey. The biggest problem, however, was the condition of the house. On the north side of the house, there was visible rotted wood. In the downstairs parlor, there was significant water damage in the corner (underneath the water damage we observed in our bathroom). It did not appear the attempts to repair the damage inside were performed in a way to maintain the historical integrity of the building. We think the owners need to address the decay that has occurred. If they did, this inn could be a showplace. The condition of the building left us feeling a little sad.” — Victoria H., 3 stars

“So it is more of a mansion than a castle, but a lot of the decor is castle themed. The building and its history is very cool. There is not a ton of stuff to do in the area, but we did make a day trip to Hocking Hills, about an hour away. The Castle Inn is in need of love and attention. The owners have fixed some things, but some only cosmetically. Large holes in the roof and plants growing out of the chimneys were concerning to us. Our room was pretty clean aside from some cobwebs; some of the surfaces that normally wouldn’t get cleaned such as details on doors and windows could use a good cleaning. Our innkeeper, Patsy was very nice. Breakfast both mornings was good, yet simple (scrambled eggs, sausage links, hash browns). Our wifi didn’t work at all while we were there and our room (on the second floor) was very warm at night. We did address them with Patsy, but apparently there was nothing that could be done. There are some neat sitting spaces on the property, both in and out. The Castle Inn definitely has potential but the bones of the mansion need some love and attention.” — kOps210, 3 stars
